I’ve realized I have an abundance of [name_m]French[/name_m], [name_m]German[/name_m], even Italian, Greek, and Dutch names on my list, but a fairly short amount of Scandinavian. I’m hoping to discover some gems. What are your favorite Scandinavian names?
So far, I love [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_u]Dagny[/name_u], and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] ([name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] have already made the actual list of combos, [name_u]Dagny[/name_u] might), and I like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Maja[/name_f]. I also love the Icelandic Brynja, but am not sure I’ll be able to find room for her. What other Scandinavian names can you suggest for me?
I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_m]Bjorn[/name_m], [name_m]Ivar[/name_m], Gunnor, [name_m]Torsten[/name_m] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f].
Thanks, everyone! I had forgotten about [name_f]Annika[/name_f]–which I’ve loved for years! I’m not sure I’d use it now, especially since [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f]'s on my list, but I do like it a lot. I’ll have to mull over it. I’ve recently come across [name_f]Anneli[/name_f], too, which I’m really crushing on, as well! I also like [name_f]Siri[/name_f], [name_f]Maja[/name_f], [name_f]Anja[/name_f] (although, not enough to use it), and [name_u]Malin[/name_u] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (which I also adore, and had forgotten about!).
I also love [name_m]Bjorn[/name_m] and [name_m]Soren[/name_m] for boys!
I really like [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ebba[/name_f], [name_f]Elin[/name_f] and [name_f]Dagmar[/name_f]! Scandinavian names always feel so fresh and ethereal to me.
[name_f]Dagmar[/name_f] and [name_f]Ebba[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Dagmar[/name_f], too, but not as much as [name_u]Dagny[/name_u]. I would only use [name_f]Dagmar[/name_f] as a MN, whereas I might use [name_u]Dagny[/name_u] up front (although both are probably MN contenders at this point). [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] has always intrigued me. There was one who attended my college several years ago, and I remembered being intrigued every time I saw her name on her dorm room door. I’m not sure if I like [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] or not–I like [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] more–but I do like it more than [name_f]Etta[/name_f], and it’s so unusual and cool. [name_f]Elin[/name_f] reminds me too much of [name_m]Tiger[/name_m] Woods’s ex, but I love the similar-ending [name_u]Malin[/name_u]. I can’t get into [name_f]Freya[/name_f], but it certainly does appeal to a lot of people.
My mother’s name is [name_f]Birgit[/name_f] (BEER-git), which is Scandinavian. She’s [name_m]German[/name_m] and the name was very popular when she was born.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f], I like [name_f]Lilja[/name_f] and [name_f]Lovisa[/name_f], too! I had been thinking about [name_f]Lovisa[/name_f], but I wasn’t sure it was really me? It’s undeniably gorgeous, though! I also like [name_f]Sonia[/name_f], but only with the [name_f]Sonja[/name_f] spelling, which makes it more in the Polish field, I think.
