I’ve had the same problem, it’s never been so bad for me before. Some information that may be relevant is that it seems to happen at times when the server shouldn’t be busy? I was trying to log in at 09:30 my time yesterday – that’s 08:30 for most of Europe, 07:30 for the UK and the middle of the night for North Americans. Didn’t work. It just doesn’t seem like the lag spikes correlate with the times that the server should be the busiest vs not very busy at all!
