"goddess of sandy beaches"

[name_m]Just[/name_m] fell head over heels for Psamathe, the name of a Greek Nereid, the goddess of sandy beaches. It’s also one of [name_u]Neptune[/name_u]'s moons. From what I can tell it’s pronounced SAH-ma-thee, sort of like [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] if it started with a “sah” sound. (If you’re saying it in Greek, the “p” is pronounced.) It’s completely unrelated to [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] in origin, for what it’s worth. I thought I found a whole thread about it here but can’t find it now - apologies if this is repetitive.

Realistically I wouldn’t use it as a first name - I live in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u] and have no Greek heritage - but I could imagine it as a middle name. What do you think of it?

I actually really it like it once I saw how you pronounce it! But on paper I think it’s a little hard to decipher. Good in the middle name spot though.

Awesome middle name! I’m putting all my unusual names in middle name slots.

I think its nice for a middle name!

I like it! So proud I said it right just by looking at it.

Ha! Well done. Greek names are still tricky for me, but I’m working on it.

It’s pretty, and I love the meaning.

I know a Greek woman called Athanasia which means ‘eternal life’ which I always thought was lovely.
