So, I’m writing a fairy-tale-ish story, and there is a goddess of the earth in it. I was thinking [name]Terra[/name] for the name, but is that too obvious with [name]Terra[/name] meaning earth?
My first thought was [name]Nova[/name].
Here are some others I thought of, most of the meanings would work for your purpose:
[name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Avani[/name]
[name]Zola[/name]
[name]Vesta[/name]
[name]Vesper[/name]
[name]Una[/name] or [name]Oona[/name]
[name]Marilla[/name]
[name]Maris[/name]
[name]Damaris[/name] or [name]Damara[/name]
[name]Avis[/name]
[name]Keziah[/name]
From the link you have there, she looks A LOT like [name]Morena[/name] Baccarin who played Inara on Firefly. So I vote for the name Inara. It’s delicate, pretty, feminine, and unique without being weird. Not a typical choice but perfect for Mother [name]Earth[/name].
And according to babynames . com it means “illuminating, shining”, something Mother [name]Earth[/name] must be. (???) But I heard somewhere on the internet that in (some place I’m not familiar with) mythology, Inara was the goddess of wild animals. Not sure if that’s accurate.
So that’s my vote! Good luck finding the perfect name!
I like [name]Terra[/name], and I don’t think it’s too ovious because the only people who pay attention to the meaning & connection would be the name nerds!
This might be too often associated with [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name], but [name]Hermione[/name] means ‘earthly.’ You didn’t say what type of mythology you’re using, but it’s Greek.
