I’ve been falling for the name ‘[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]’ for a while now. It’s beconing quite hipster in Australia and I love it’s beachy vibe. I’m drawn to names like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], [name_m]Bowie[/name_m], [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] for girls. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering what others thoughts are on the name? Obviously [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] Hawn comes to mind but I feel like a baby [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] would fit in well with all the similar sounding names these days.
A few ideas:
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
My son is named [name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
I think [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] would be cute. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is my favorite with it in the first spot
I understand the appeal for you, but I think [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a given is a difficult name to grow with. As a nickname for, say, [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], it’s super sweet and charming. [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is a stunning combo!
Thanks everyone so far! This has been so helpful. I can see [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a middle name too and I wish I could use [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]/[name_f]Juno[/name_f] but a friend has a 3 yr old with that name! [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is cute and unexpected! I also like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] isn’t really my style but I love it’s meaning! [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] isn’t my style either but after pairing it with some cool middles, it makes it sound hip!
hey I love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]! I think it works for a surfer chic or someone super glam since it’s kinda Old Hollywood.
Along the lines of naturey - [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Shea[/name_u], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Atlanta[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] Briarr, [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]? [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]?
It might be nice to throw a longer name with a slightly different vibe in there just in case she wants to run for president or something? I think [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] Junniper is really cute for that, maybe [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] - it’s still a nature element but less of an obvious one with the stars? [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Aria[/name_f] - meaning air?
My grandparents had a dog named [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], so I struggle with the idea of putting it on a birth certificate. I do think it’s a wearable nickname though.
I think [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is pretty awesome and totally fits the beachy vibe. I also love [name_f]Leni[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], etc. I say go for it!
Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate how open minded everyone is about names on Nameberry. I have been really enjoying the name [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] recently and it does lend itself well to [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. It seems like everyone is leaning towards a more formal name and I like that idea too. I also love the idea of using the name [name_u]Golden[/name_u] too.
My cousins’ middle name is [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]…an honour name from our grandfather which was a nn derived from his surname. She absolutely loves her middle name and often says shed be happy to have it as a first! That said, despite the family sentiment it’s not to my taste as a given first but I do love the suggestions of [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f].
Have you also thought of other names that have the meaning gold which would make [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] a very cute nn…
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] - gold
[name_f]Orla[/name_f] - golden princess
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] - golden
[name_u]Ariel[/name_u] - gold
[name_f]Zarina[/name_f] - a golden vessel
[name_f]Zorina[/name_f] - golden dawn
I prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], but I do see the appeal of [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a stand alone name. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is especially cute!
I think [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is wearable… I have been recently thinking of it as a nn, but came to it in a round-about way. I really like the name [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and have been considering [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is also a nn for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]… so I have now been thinking…
why not [name_f]Margot[/name_f] nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] nn [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is also on my list.
Your other names are cute too, sweet beachy vibes.
I actually like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] on its own better than [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] (just have a hard time seeing [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] on an adult). [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is a great combo. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] has grown on me recently so I expect it will for other people too.
So many amazing thoughts! Thanks again everyone. I think the name [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] will become more popular. (We keep hearing about how [name_m]Otis[/name_m] was on everyone’s list when we say his name) I prefer [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] to [name_f]Margot[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] will become much more popular as actress [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Robbie[/name_u] continues to make bigger movies. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is my favourite at the moment so thank you for your ideas and feedback.
Also, I love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] & [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] (my puppy is [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] though so I’m biased towards that one.)
