Graeme Aberdeen?

My husband is stuck on [name]Connor[/name]/[name]Conor[/name]. He thinks it’s Scottish. I keep telling him The Highlander was not a historically accurate movie, but to no avail. Anyway, I’m always adding to my list of names to inundate him with if we ever get pregnant with a boy. Lately, I’ve loved [name]Graham[/name]/[name]Graeme[/name]. I think it sounds so handsome with our last name: [name]Graeme[/name] [name]Neilson[/name]. And I think I might be able to sell it to him with the Scottish spelling. So I was trying to think of a middle name to go with it. I thought, “I need something really obviously Scottish.” And I thought [name]Graeme[/name] [name]Aberdeen[/name] [name]Neilson[/name], almost as a joke, but then it just stuck with me all day. I kind of really like it! It’s got the lovely 1-3-2 syllable flow, and I just like the way it sounds. Is it too cheesy though? We both have Scottish heritage and have visited [name]Scotland[/name] several times, but I’m worried that it sounds like we’re trying too hard.

I really like this name. I think [name]Graham[/name] does sound nice with your last name as well. My thoughts on spelling: I prefer [name]Graham[/name]. This post is on the Nameberry homepage forums and I couldn’t tell if [name]Graeme[/name] was a boy or girl name. I also think [name]Graham[/name] looks nicer with your last name and flows better. The [name]Graeme[/name] [name]Neilson[/name] combo is vowel heavy and could throw people off with pronunciation.

Concerning [name]Aberdeen[/name], I think it’s great! People might ask if it’s a family name, and of course you can answer how you choose

Too much. Eye-rollingly too much. [name]Graeme[/name] is already incredibly Scottish, and [name]Graeme[/name] [name]Neilson[/name] is fantastic. I also find it hard to believe that anyone would think [name]Graeme[/name] was a girl.

I don’t care for the ‘[name]Graeme[/name]’ spelling at all! (It looks like it should be pronounced ‘Grame’ to me.) [name]Graham[/name] [name]Neilson[/name] is very nice though.

Ha! Thanks for the replies. I alternate between rolling eyes at myself and really liking it. Thanks for the honest feedback!

I have cousins, [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Conor[/name]. haha nice sibset.

love the name, but would personally spell it graham.

I love the name [name]Graham[/name] (spelled this way). I really prefer it to [name]Conner[/name]. There are so many little Conners running around.

I like [name]Graham[/name]/[name]Graeme[/name]. I prefer the Scottish spelling actually, as [name]Graham[/name] always reminds me of the cracker. [name]Aberdeen[/name] is a little much, but not terrible.

I wouldve thought [name]Graeme[/name] was prn “grame” like game. I think it sounds nice with your last name if you spell it [name]Graham[/name], I dont care for [name]Aberdeen[/name] because it reminds me of gaberdine/gabardine but I might be the only one who things that.

Anyways, [name]Graham[/name] [name]Neilson[/name] would be a nice name!

The correct pronunciation for [name]Graeme[/name] is “Graim.”
