Hello All,
Need some input… so we like the name [name]Graeme[/name] for our next son but am wondering if it may be too rhyme-y with our last name. Our last name rhymes with Hammer. We pronounce [name]Graeme[/name] with more of a long A sound but know that many will say [name]Graeme[/name] with a short A. So… [name]Graeme[/name] Hammer…too rhyme-y or ok.
Thanks,
[name]Shelby[/name]
[name]IMO[/name], if you’re going to pronounce it “gray-um”, it’s totally fine. The “gram” pronunciation (as in milligram, kilogram, etc.) would be too rhyme-y.
No it’s not rhyme-y at all. Are you considering Grae/[name]Gray[/name] as a nn? It might help people to pronounce [name]Graeme[/name] correctly if they associate it with ‘gray’
[name]Gray[/name]-um pronunciation (the only one I’m familiar with, never heard [name]Gram[/name] ) is fine next to Hammer. I usually prefer the [name]Graham[/name] spelling but [name]Graham[/name] Hammer has the repetitive ‘ham’, so I actually like [name]Graeme[/name] better for you.
This.
I say gray-um though, so I don’t find it’s too repetitive in sounds.
Either way you prn. it, I still think it’s too close to your last name.
Either pronunciation sounds a little strange to me with your last name.
I just don’t like it. I immediately think of graham cracker.
