[name_f]My[/name_f] third baby boy! We have narrowed it down to about 4 names which is really good for us!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] oldest is [name_m]Graham[/name_m] Hopkins (Hopkins is my maiden name) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]My[/name_f] second is [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] [name_m]Bailey[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f] (pronounced “reese”) [name_f][/name_f]and then my third will be ________ [name_m]George[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] brother passed away when he was little and his name was [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Bailey[/name_m] Hopkins. So all of their middle names backwards will be his full name. A cool little puzzle. [name_f][/name_f]Anyway our names are…
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Everett[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Hudson[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
I would love a name where there is a nickname that ends in Y. So “Becksy” “Rhetty” or “Evy”, [name_f][/name_f] “Brooksy”, or “Huddy”. I also love “Becks” and “Rhett” because of the one syllable of my other boys.
[name_f][/name_f]
Any opinions? I should note that my concern with [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] is the association with [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and his family are all D1 soccer players and continue to play in adulthood. Soccer is a big part of my nieces and nephews lives so It is completely likely that my kids will play and love soccer. Is [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] too cringey?! [name_f][/name_f]SO HARD TO CHOOSE
I love [name_m]Beck[/name_m] but [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] look too matchy to me [name_f][/name_f]- maybe you’d like [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] or just [name_m]Beck[/name_m] on its own?
[name_f][/name_f]
If not, then [name_m]Everett[/name_m] is my favourite with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m]!
I love the flow of [name_m]Everett[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], and the nickname options! That would be my pick. Congratulations on your growing family
I really like [name_m]Everett[/name_m] with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m]!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] doesn’t necessarily make me think of [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m], but I’m not big on the repeating endings (Graham[name_f][/name_f] and [name_m]Beck[/name_m]ham).
Congratulations! [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] feel a little similar, but I love [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] “Beck”!
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Bailey[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f] that is beyond precious. [name_f]Love[/name_f] that you can honor your brother in this way.
[name_f][/name_f]
I really like the suggestion of [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]! [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f] but all of your name choices are great.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite, both alone and with your sons’ names, is [name_m]Everett[/name_m]. [name_m]Everett[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] is just lovely. I think it’s the most timeless option, much like [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m]. The others feel more trendy to me.
Oh, I love [name_m]George[/name_m] for a middle! [name_f][/name_f] What a special way to honor your brother.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Everett[/name_m] is far and away my favorite; I love [name_m]Everett[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] and he fits seamlessly with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] always seemed rather trendy because of the [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] tie, but I do love [name_m]Beck[/name_m] and find it very likable and sporty. [name_f][/name_f] Would [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] be an alternative? [name_f][/name_f] It has the -ett ending of [name_m]Everett[/name_m], works nicely with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m], still gets you Becks/Becksy, but removes the potentially cringey aspects of [name_m]Beckham[/name_m]? [name_f][/name_f] I do like [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] a lot, but [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] would be my concern as well, and if it’s also a concern of yours, I think [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] would be a nice alternative.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] is beautiful but invariably reminds me of [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], III, from [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] at Christmastime. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] He’s a lovely name otherwise, though! [name_f][/name_f] And I love [name_m]Hudson[/name_m], but I think [name_m]Everett[/name_m] and Beckham/Beckett work a little better style-wise with your boys.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Everett[/name_m], though! [name_f][/name_f] I think [name_m]Graham[/name_m], [name_m]Rhys[/name_m], and [name_m]Everett[/name_m] are a perfect trio. [name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] → gentle and stylish yet rugged
[name_f][/name_f]
I don’t mind [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] and it feels familiar enough as a name these days that it doesn’t feel tied to one person. I prefer just [name_m]Beck[/name_m] or [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] though
I love the nod to your brother’s name. That is very sweet! Such a cool honor.
[name_f][/name_f]
I’d say if soccer is THAT important to you guys (which it sounds like it is) I wouldn’t go with [name_m]Beckham[/name_m]. I wouldn’t make that association on my own, but in the soccer world I bet it would be easy connection to make.
[name_f][/name_f]
I like [name_m]Everett[/name_m] or [name_m]Hudson[/name_m] looking at your other boy’s names! I think they both fit really nicely and flow well together. I think I have a slight preference for [name_m]Everett[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m].
Looking at your list I love [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
Honestly [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] is such a handsome name that paired with older brothers G & R feels outdoorsy with southern charm. I think [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] would be a delightful combination and a lovely way to honour your brother (so sorry for your loss) especially as this name uses your brother’s initials too.
With [name_m]Graham[/name_m] & [name_m]Rhys[/name_m], my favorite of your options is definitely [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]! He has that same unexpected, rugged nature-y feel, and I love how he sounds paired with [name_m]George[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f]If I had to rank your choices:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Hudson[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Everett[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] (definitely makes me think of soccer, but mainly just feels a little to close to [name_m]Graham[/name_m] for me)
The great thing is that you’ve got it down to four options and all of them are good choices.
[name_f][/name_f]
This is the order I’d consider them in:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- A handsome choice – feels down to earth and outdoorsy. I think it complements the styles of [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] the best of your options. You like the one syllable pattern so that makes [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] a stronger choice too.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Everett[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- A charming name that feels more formal or distinguished than your other options. The nickname [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] is great, but I don’t love another one syllable ‘R’ name with [name_m]Rhys[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Hudson[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- A well loved name so a little more popular than your other options. Feels friendly [name_f][/name_f] and preppy.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I think the association with [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] would still be at the back of people’s minds, as he was a large reason the name has become more common as a first name. I don’t think it’s problematic but you have 3 other options without this concern to choose from.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
You could also use [name_m]Beck[/name_m] as a stand-alone name. It may be more unisex than you usually go for, but you get the same cool sound and it follows the one syllable pattern. Another idea is [name_m]Becker[/name_m].
Out of the 4 you have it narrowed down to, my favorite with [name_m]Graham[/name_m] & [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] is definitely [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]!
[name_f][/name_f]
If you love the nn [name_m]Beck[/name_m] but are not sure about the association (as well as the similar ending to [name_m]Graham[/name_m] makes it sound less distinct) might I suggest [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m] is adorable
[name_f][/name_f]
I also feel like [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] would be a good fit, nn options [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Barry[/name_m], & [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]
Me & Hubby fell for this name fantasizing about him playing basketball and making posters that say “Beckett Makes Buckets!” on them lol. (hubby was a great bball player and loves to watch it now) [name_f][/name_f]So could be positive depending on how you look at it!
I’m also for [name_m]Everett[/name_m] or [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]. I love both these names. [name_m]Everett[/name_m] flows a little better to [name_m]George[/name_m] but once the last name is included, am sure both would sound very handsome (and honour your brother beautifully).
[name_f][/name_f]
I do think [name_m]Beckham[/name_m], while def not cringe, is unlikely to date quite as well as [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- and I can see how countries where [name_m]Graham[/name_m] is Gray’um (but Gram) might not like the repeat sounds.
[name_f][/name_f]
I like [name_m]Hudson[/name_m] but not as much as [name_m]Everett[/name_m] or [name_m]Brooks[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
Another option for nn [name_m]Beck[/name_m] or Becks that isn’t [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] (see you don’t love), is [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]. [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] nn [name_m]Beck[/name_m] is a winsome name!
Such gorgeous names and you truly couldn’t go wrong with any of your choices, that said, my vote goes to [name_m]Everett[/name_m]. [name_m]Everett[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] is such a handsome combo and I love it with big brothers’ names!
