Grandmother is Pauline...how to honor?

I’m really struggling w/ girl names. My grandmother is named [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] and I’d love to honor her (even with a middle name). Problem is, I really HATE the name [name_f]Pauline[/name_f]. Any alternatives?

Maybe [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] or [name_f]Polina[/name_f]? Both variants. I honestly love [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] a LOT, for some reason, and if I used it, I’d use the nns [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lina[/name_f]/[name_f]Lena[/name_f]. So maybe just [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] or [name_f]Lina[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Lina[/name_f] is really pretty, actually. Or maybe use her initials? For example, if she is [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f], you could use something like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], [name_f]Posy[/name_f] [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Patience[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], or [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]? You could also honor one of her loves/interests, too–my grandmother was [name_f]Arlene[/name_f], which I equally dislike, but I like the option of using either her middle name ([name_f]Grace[/name_f]), a bird name (like [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], or [name_f]Starling[/name_f]) for her love of birds, or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Plum[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] for her love of the color purple. Maybe something like that could work for you?

Good luck!

My grandmother’s name was [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] too!
I love thinking of honor names:

[name_f]Polina[/name_f] (my favorite!)
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Paulana[/name_f]
[name_f]Paola[/name_f]
[name_f]Paolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Pauletta[/name_f]
Exotic yet entirely related: [name_f]Paviana[/name_f]

One of my favorite names is [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] which shares similar sounds to [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] and has the same cute nickname: [name_f]Polly[/name_f]!

Maybe a variation on the name would be better, like [name_f]Paula[/name_f], [name_f]Paulette[/name_f], [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] and [name_f]Paolina[/name_f]?

What about using a name with the -line ending, like [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Celine[/name_f]? It could even work if it’s pronounced “line” rather than “leen”- that would give you [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], etc. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Polly[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] would be nice too if you like that. I think everything else I’ve thought of has already been suggested.

I also love ashthedreamer’s idea of using her middle name or something that honours one of her interests. It would be extra special if it related to something you and she shared- e.g. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] if the two of you planted daisies together or [name_f]Poem[/name_f] if you both like poetry.

[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is one of my name picks…not sure if it’s a stretch to say it’s after my grandmother [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], but I like it!

[name_f]Apolline[/name_f] .

Pauliandra(paul-ee-an-dra)

[name_m]Paulie[/name_m]
[name_f]Paula[/name_f]
[name_f]Pola[/name_f]
[name_f]Polina[/name_f]
Apollina
Polliana

[name_m]Paulie[/name_m]
[name_f]Paula[/name_f]
[name_f]Pola[/name_f]
[name_f]Polina[/name_f]
Apollina
Polliana

[name_f]Paula[/name_f] or [name_f]Polly[/name_f] are my two favourite names you could use to honour her.
