I’m looking for words in other languages that mean “green”…hoping one might make a good name.
In Creole, green is vett
In Croatian, green is zelena
In Dutch, green is groen
In [name_m]French[/name_m], green is vert
In Italian & Portuguese & Spanish, green is verde
In Scottisch & Irish Gaelic, green is uaine or glas
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps!
In Hebrew it’s yarok (yah- ROKE)
[name_f]Zelena[/name_f] is a nice one, all the Latin based ones are going to be similar though I do think [name_m]Viridian[/name_m] is very pretty
My favourite “green” names for boys are more shades than foreign language words: [name_m]Moss[/name_m], [name_m]Forest[/name_m], Loden, [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], and names like [name_m]Oren[/name_m]. (“pine” in Hebrew)
Nameberry says [name_u]Verdi[/name_u] is green in Italian and actually lists this one as a name.
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] means “young green shoot”
Maybe even try names meaning [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] which is a strong symbol of green.
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]; [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]
NB Guess I didn’t pay enough attention to which forum this was posted in… Didn’t notice you were looking for boy baby names
[name_u]Green[/name_u] in [name_m]German[/name_m] is Grün but I doubt it would make a good name
I think [name_u]Green[/name_u] works. I come across it occasionally in old census records.
