Okay, so [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is decidedly very masculine, but could it be used for a girl to honor a grandfather? As a first name nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or as a middle? Opinions are welcome
I would definitley pick [name_f]Gregoria[/name_f] over [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]. [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is just too masculine. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a cute nn, I also like [name_f]Gia[/name_f] and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] as possible nicknames.
Oh dear, that seems far too masculine for a little girl. Not meaning to be rude. And I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is very masculine as well.
[name_f]Greer[/name_f] is the Scottish female form of [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], and would suit a little girl much better. I’m not personally a fan of the name [name_f]Greer[/name_f], but it’s better than [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] in my opinion.
There’s also [name_f]Gregoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Gregorina[/name_f].
My brother’s name is [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] and no way [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] would work it’s a very very masculine name. Maybe just name your daughter [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_f]Greer[/name_f] instead? A girl would be bullied so much for being named [name_m]Gregory[/name_m].
No, please don’t. [name_m]Author[/name_m] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_u]Rice[/name_u]'s real first name was [name_u]Howard[/name_u] [name_m]Allen[/name_m] after her father and she changed it. Give her a female G name or name her [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_f]Gia[/name_f].
[name_f]Greer[/name_f], please? [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] may work. [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] on a girl would be awful.
I wouldn’t mind it as a middle name, especially since it honors. I would recommend against it as a first name for a girl. I don’t think the sounds work well on a girl, and I think it would cause a lot of confusion and just be hard to wear in general.
Only if you would give a grandmother’s name to your son. Otherwise, I would consider his surname instead. Is it usable?
I really don’t think so - it’s not as if it ends in -a or has a particularly “feminine” sound (sorry, I know some traditionally male names have “softer” sounds, but you know what I mean). I’m not a fan in general of boys names on girls though, so this might be just not my style. However, I feel the same way about [name_u]Rory[/name_u], which is almost (well, to my - limited - knowledge) overwhelmingly masculine here in [name_f]England[/name_f]. Good luck anyway - I think a Fl.OR.a could conceivably honour a [name_m]Greg[/name_m].OR.y? Sorry!
I agree with justanamelover. [name_f]Greer[/name_f] would be a lot nicer than [name_m]Gregory[/name_m].
For a girl, [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] would be best to use in the middle spot. For a first name, I would advise you to choose [name_f]Gregoria[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_f]Greer[/name_f] for a first name.
I think it’s quirky, but not impossible. It’s not like you’re giving her a masculine name for no reason. I’s to honor a family member. You have feminine nn options, and if you go back to the 1880’s (Popular Baby Names) you can find now-all male names in the girl’s top 1000, like [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Earl[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Dave[/name_m], [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. You can also find [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f], and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] on the guy’s side. I say go for it.
Oh please don’t. I like some of the prior suggestions instead. Or how about [name_f]Greta[/name_f] or [name_f]Gretel[/name_f]?
I actually KNOW a girl named [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]. At first I thought it was super weird, but as I got to know her, I thought it suited her. She’s very creative, well traveled, intelligent, out-going and sweet. I’ve never heard her called by a nickname, but I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] would be nice.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] is ADORABLE! I’m imagining her trying to say it before she can pronounce her R’s well… wawry… cute
No. Please no.
Honestly, would you want to go through life as a girl/woman called [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]? I wouldn’t. It’s incredibly unattractive and masculine on a girl.
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is not a feminine name at all to me! Why not save the name for a future son? If you must use it for a daughter put it in the middle.
I agree that [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is pushing the boundary too far gender-wise.
I agree with jeska, jazz1509, and namefan.
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m] on a girl is all sorts of bad.
I completely agree with this.
