I admit it is the first thing that comes to mind. I’d personally prefer [name_f]Greta[/name_f], or with the nicknames you like, [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] (though that still seems a bit old fashioned to me). There is also [name_f]Gerda[/name_f], who is a character from a [name_m]Hans[/name_m] [name_m]Christian[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] fairy tale (The [name_f]Snow[/name_f] [name_f]Queen[/name_f]).
Good luck!
I like [name_f]Greta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gretel[/name_f], and I like [name_f]Gerta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gertie[/name_f]. I don’t like [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gertie[/name_f], it just seems off.
@julylacs : Thanks
[name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] is lovely but I also find it a bit old fashioned. Although [name_f]Gerda[/name_f] is gorgeous !
@rlinden : Thanks
Yeh , maybe the nn are a bit off but they make sence too me although I also like [name_f]Greta[/name_f] as a nn .
I’ve never thought about it before but I actually think [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] is adorable, I really like it.
My friend really likes [name_f]Greta[/name_f], which is lovely too and it honours her grandmother. However, [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] is so sweet and I love the sound to it. People will think of [name_m]Hansel[/name_m] and [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] to begin with but once your little [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] was here they would begin to love the name as much as they love her!
I don’t like the nicknames you’ve suggested, I think [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Greta[/name_f] would make more sense.
@shelfieswithherownwings : thanks
I completely agree in what you say . Maybe my nn doesn’t make much of a sence …
