[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
We’re having our baby girl sometime very soon and we have all but settled on the name [name_f]Greer[/name_f]/[name_f]Grier[/name_f] as her first name. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite and we are totally fine with that.
Spelling opinions?
[name_f]Greer[/name_f] is the original, Scottish spelling and [name_f]Grier[/name_f], slightly more feminine, is a common spelling variant. I need opinions!
Also, we want to honor my side of the family with the middle name.
Options: [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_u]Page[/name_u] (one syllable- out of the question?)
I quite like [name_f]Greer[/name_f] (this spelling). It sounds strong and reminds me of feminist [name_u]Germaine[/name_u] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]. [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] has a pleasing sound and look, although the 80s kinda made [name_f]Marie[/name_f] a filler middle name (as a child of the 80s, it’s hard for me to get past that). [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is nice as well, but [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_u]Page[/name_u] does sound choppy. (I prefer the [name_f]Paige[/name_f] spelling, unless you are using a surname.) What about a variation of [name_f]Marie[/name_f] or a double middle?
I prefer the [name_f]Greer[/name_f] spelling. I love this name! I’m not sure how [name_f]Grier[/name_f] seems more feminine? I think of [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_m]Garson[/name_m] and Mrs Miniver.
I like [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] best of your options.
I like [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I think the [name_f]Greer[/name_f] spelling will be more familiar and easier to deal with. [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_u]Page[/name_u] is too short and unisex for me, and [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is OK but I don’t love the repeating [name_f]REE[/name_f] sounds.
