I want to find more rarely used place names which are usually guilty pleasures and never actually used on real people. Would love to know if there are any I have missed.

I probably wouldn’t end up using these as I have no relation to most of these places but I still like them!

Albany is a really nice choice and so is [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. If only I had even a slight connection to those names they’d definitely move up to my actual names list

I’ve actually seen [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] in use on a little girl.

Here’s my list:

  • I love Edessa and [name_f]Odessa[/name_f].
  • India is lovely, but definitely more of a gp (since I’m not [name_f]Indian[/name_f] and have no connection there).
  • Vienna is gorgeous.
  • I am acquainted with a girl called [name_f]Madeira[/name_f], which is stunning as a name.
  • I really like [name_u]Paris[/name_u] for either gender.
  • For a boy, I’ve recently come to love [name_u]Holland[/name_u].
  • And [name_u]Israel[/name_u] and [name_u]Cairo[/name_u] are both so cool.

I actually forgot about [name_u]Holland[/name_u]. That really is such a good choice, also have no links to it unfortunately.

I have noticed a lot of people use place names without have any link to it (totally valid) but I will admit that I have seen names related to my country used by people that have no link to it at all and I’m not offended but I kind of feel they lose a bit of their ‘vibe’ in a way.

I agree, and, for me personally, the place would would have to be pretty significant to me personally for the name to be anything other than a beloved gp. I just wouldn’t really feel right about it otherwise, even if it wouldn’t offend anyone. :slight_smile:

I don’t really have an issue using place names I’ve never been to… which is odd because I do have an issue with buying a shirt with a place on it that I’ve never been to :woman_shrugging:t3:

@Greyblue [name_u]Memphis[/name_u] is so beautiful, I actually know a boy with this name and he suits it perfectly. It’s definitely on my GP for boys.

@SparkleNinja18 One of my best friends is [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] and I secretly hope I can use [name_u]Holland[/name_u] and say it’s a tribute to said friend, if [name_m]Amsterdam[/name_m] was a shorter word I’d definitely use it.
