My husband and I have agreed that if we have a boy, I will choose the first name. But, he gets to choose the middle name, which will be what the baby will go by. Both named, of course, have to be something the other agrees on. I have almost settled on [name_m]Killian[/name_m], but am still open to other heavily Irish names (no [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]/[name_m]Liam[/name_m]/[name_m]Connor[/name_m], stuff like that). I am still iffy on the “kill” part.
His two picks have been [name_m]Axel[/name_m] and [name_m]Ryker[/name_m]. Which I really honestly can’t stand. They’re too… violent. [name_m]Axel[/name_m], for obvious reasons, and [name_m]Ryker[/name_m] because of the prison. My husband is a cop, so I think everyone will automatically think that’s where we got it from. Help? I really want to have a name prepared by the gender reveal!
Maybe you can convince him of something similar to [name_m]Ryker[/name_m], but with a slight variation that removes the negative connotation it holds in your eyes? [name_m]Ryder[/name_m] and [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] are two very similar options that come to mind.
Also, if he likes the strong, prominent “x” in [name_m]Axel[/name_m], maybe he’d like something like [name_m]Maddox[/name_m], or [name_m]Knox[/name_m]?
[name_m]Killian[/name_m] is a bit off putting to me because of the “kill”, I understand where you’re coming from. Some other heavily Irish names that start with the same C/K sound as [name_m]Killian[/name_m] are [name_m]Kellan[/name_m], [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]/[name_u]Kiernan[/name_u], [name_m]Callaghan[/name_m], [name_u]Connolly[/name_u], and [name_u]Keenan[/name_u].
IMHO I can’t get past the “Kill” part of [name_m]Killian[/name_m] either. My Irish name favourites are…
[name_m]Maguire[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], and [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] as mentioned above
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Maguire[/name_m] or [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Maguire[/name_m] sound very Irish to me, as well as handsome! I would suggest not putting so much pressure on yourselves trying to have his name chosen for the gender reveal. Give yourselves lots of time for such an important decision. I honestly think that it’s nice to leave at least one surprise for family and friends for when he is born.
