I think it works well as a standalone name.
It’s strong and elegant even as one syllable, so works perfectly in a more formal setting. I feel like with most short names deemed at times to be best as nicknames, that is the main issue. [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] goes from informal to formal with ease.
I love the sound of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], so I voted for a long form. [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] has always sounded like a nickname to me.
I think it works perfectly well on it’s own! In fact, i think that’s how i like it best
While I adore [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], I love [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] on it’s own even more!
I really like [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is well-established as a standalone name. [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] [name_f]Stefani[/name_f] for example is just [name_f]Gwen[/name_f].
She definitely can stand on her own, though personally I prefer [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]’.
I prefer Gwenllian, but that’s only [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] name I actually like. Yes, [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] alone can stand on its own.
Other ideas are [name_f]Gwenna[/name_f] or Wenna (older form of [name_f]Gwenna[/name_f])
I think it can stand on its own, but I love so many of the long forms that it seems a shame not to use them. I love [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] (I would probably use the “Y” version but think they’re both lovely). [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is nice too, just a bit too Arthurian for me. I also like @sorceress’s suggestion of Gwenllian!
I think it’s fine as a stand-alone name. I also quite like [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] though and if you like to have the option of a longer name I think it would be fine to use a longer form and then shorten it.
I think [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] stands on its own just fine but if you decide to use a longer form, my favourite is [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]. It has a much lighter and friendlier vibe than Gwendolyn.
I think [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] stands on its own just fine but if you decide to use a longer form, my favourite is [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]. It has a much lighter and friendly vibe than [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
I love the look of [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] but like ’just [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]’ just as much and think it’s perfectly lovely as a stand alone name.
