Someone suggested the name [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] to me, and I really like it! I love how feminine it is without being overly frilly. It’s just lovely! However, I’m not sure if I’m completely sold on [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] just yet. I really like it, though, so maybe!
Let me preface this next part by saying that [name_f]Gwenna[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] are not my favorites, but I’m open to anything else
Is [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] too formal/frilly? Are there any other variations of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] I should know about?
I really love [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. I think it’s so beautiful and melodic. If you’re unsure though, there’s also [name_f]Gwenore[/name_f]/Gwenora, [name_f]Gwyneira[/name_f], and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]!
Also, [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] doesnt feel too frilly to me. It actually feels very spunky and strong!
There are about 60 names that come up if you do a NB advance search starting with ‘gwen’! There’s [name_f]Gwenna[/name_f], Gwenniver and [name_f]Gwenivive[/name_f] - spellings are a bit odd but I love the sound of [name_f]Gwenivive[/name_f]!
To me, [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is not frilly as I don’t find G and d sounds very feminine. I like [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], it sounds glamorous and sophisticated!
I’m glad you think so! I consider just [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], but I’m worried she’ll get called [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and have to correct people her whole life.
I adore [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] too! So sweet, strong and sassy!
I like [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] far more than [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]; I know it’s only one letter different but it flows much better visually with the E to me, plus you lose the trendy -lyn ending. (And it’s the Welsh spelling).
Guinevere “[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]” would be my favourite, but there’s also the rather fabulous [name_f]Gwenllian[/name_f] (gwen-HLEE-an), or sweet, quirky [name_f]Gwenno[/name_f] or Gwennan.
Gwendolyn’s a nice name. It’s not my personal style, but I do think it’s pretty cool. It’s not too formal or frilly at all! How do you feel about [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]?
I think I prefer the [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] spelling too! It’s so vibrant and beautiful. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think this would cause problems down the line though, like constant misspellings and her having to correct them all the time?
I absolutely adore [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]! I personally like [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/Gwendolen as well, mostly because of The Importance of Being [name_m]Earnest[/name_m].
Another longer option might be [name_f]Gwenore[/name_f]/Gwenora or [name_f]Gwenda[/name_f].
I don’t think so, but both [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] are very uncommon where I live, and I don’t think anyone would assume -lyn automatically here. Only you know what the intuitive spelling would be where you are.
I used to really dislike it but then a liking for it crept up on me. It’s clunky in a cute way.
That said, i do just like [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] on its own
Do you guys prefer [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolin[/name_f]? I don’t really care for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (the -lyn spelling isn’t that attractive to me), but I like both of tje above spellings.
I also adore [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], but am not a huge fan of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. It’s pretty enough, but I agree that [name_f]Gwendoline[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] is more æsthetically pleasing.
I like the idea of [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], or indeed [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] as a stand alone name!
I’m definitely leaning more towards [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]. It’s just so charming! [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is lovely, but I’m not sure if it’s really my style. Thanks for your input
I’ve never personally been fond of this name or [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], though I do recognize I have some negative associations with it. It just sounds very dated to me.
