Gwyneth or Gwendolyn

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer the sound of [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]? I like the nickname options for both: [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] would offer more like [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_u]Lyn[/name_u]…

If [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]- how do you feel about the spelling variant of [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f]?
If [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]-how do you feel about the spelling variant of [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] (which I hear is the original spelling)

[name_m]Can[/name_m] you see a [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] with potential sisters, [name_f]Greer[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]? Would it pair well with a potential brothers named Asa, August, Ambrose, Jasper, Josiah, Elias, Levi and Silas?

Looking for middle name suggestions and potential sibling names that will pair well. Thank you!

I like [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] a bit better, I think. I also slightly prefer the spelling [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] as opposed to [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], mostly because I find it more visually appealing. They’re both cute names! I think they would both work well with the other names, too.

Gwendolyn! [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] isn’t my favorite but I do love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]!

I love the flow and sound of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. I don’t mind the spelling [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] but [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] just looks …… right. I think with nicknames like the ones you mentioned [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_m]Boone[/name_m] would work well with [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/Gwenyth. Although if you use [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] as a nickname I feel it would be too similar for [name_f]Greer[/name_f] to be used. I love nicknames [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].

  1. I abhor [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] Paltrow (just do) so I much prefer [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f].
  2. Gwendolyn is a beautiful name and I like the nicknames of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], and [name_f]Dolly[/name_f].
  3. I prefer [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], because it feels like the original spelling and because I am not partial to -lyn anything (except a soft spot for [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]).
  4. I can see both names with siblings of [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], though not [name_f]Greer[/name_f] just because I would try to avoid using the same initial more than once (though I can’t really talk b/c I’d have loved to have had a [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], and Glenavon!).
  5. I think [name_m]Boone[/name_m] is fine. Girl and boy names to me can have different styles than each other in one family.
  6. I have always loved [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] or [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f].
  7. And if I had two girls I might name them [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] and [name_f]Viveca[/name_f].

[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] reminds me too much of [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] Paltrow, who is… not the best person.
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is pretty, but I prefer the spelling [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]. Also, the nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is cute, and I love your suggestion of [name_f]Dolly[/name_f]! I’ve never thought of that before.

Definitely [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] (would 100% keep this spelling, personally)! [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/Gwendolen isn’t for me and feels quite long next to the other names.

I prefer [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]- it feels clunky cute and I love the different nickname opportunities!

Gwendolyn [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Maia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Freda[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]! I’m not a fan of the nickname [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is clunky. [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] definitely works better with those sibling names too.

I prefer [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (this spelling). I think [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] work very well as sisters. I dislike [name_f]Greer[/name_f] (sorry) and I don’t think it works very well with the two. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] either but could work for a sister for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] if you like it.

I love [name_u]Asa[/name_u] but think it’s too short next to [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. I think [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] work well.

I must admit, I’ve never been super fond on either of these names, but I definitely don’t hate them at all! They’ve both grown on me over the years. I think I slightly prefer [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] because it feels more versatile (i.e. nicknames) and the spelling is more intuitive. I like the spellings [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] fairly equally and they both make sense to me. If I had to pick, I’d vote for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] over [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f].

I realised recently I’m not fond of names that make an -ith sound. However, this is just a personal thing.

Yes I think the sibling sets work.

As for combos, I’d personally avoid middle names that have any heavy ‘N’ or ‘M’ sounds.

Gwendolyn [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] (The ‘N’ is said quickly and is quite soft, but I did debate whether to include this name or not…)
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]

“I abhor Gwyneth Paltrow (just do) so I much prefer Gwendolyn@Harvest-Endellion

This is my reasoning too. I love the names [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (this spelling) and “just” [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], but I absolutely can’t stand [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] Paltrow and the name is strongly associated for me. She’s famous enough (at least here in the US), and the name is “rare” enough, that that association might not be easily avoided… and it’s a negative one for a lot of people in my personal anecdotal, admittedly maybe biased experience (which you can take with a grain of salt).

Is [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] unusable? No, not at all, especially with a nickname. But I do think even aside from the negative associations I have with Gwyneth, that [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], and even [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] on its own, are more usable, intuitive, and wearable, and that they’d be a bit easier for people to spell and pronounce. I’m not keen on the [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f] spelling, either, but Gwendolen also works fine for me.

I also love [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], which has always struck me as similar to all these names.

I can’t see any of these names except for “just” Gwen pairing well with Greer, Blythe, or Maeve, sorry! Mostly due to length difference. Jasper, Ambrose, and Josiah all work as absolutely lovely pairings with them all though!

I prefer the sound of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. Since [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] Paltrow is famous and I occasionally hear of her, that spelling looks more “right” to me. I like [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] better than [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f].
I can see [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] with those siblings.

I definitely prefer [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], spelling and name. Though I grew up with someone with this name and spelling so this is wHat I’m familiar with.
