My husband is starting to lean away from naming our daughter [name_f]Helena[/name_f] which I am set on but he’s trying to through a wrench in the plan.
The name must start with H.
What other H names do you feel are girly and maybe princess like. I didn’t really see anything. He loves [name_f]Holly[/name_f] and I’m not into it.
Some of these might be over the top, but it can’t hurt to mention them.
Hannalise
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]
[name_f]Harmonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Helisent[/name_f]
[name_f]Heloisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Heloise[/name_f]
Hemera
[name_f]Hera[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
Hespera
[name_f]Honora[/name_f]
[name_f]Honoria[/name_f]
Already mentioned but [name_f]Heloise[/name_f], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and [name_f]Honora[/name_f] seem princessy but usable to me. I also really like [name_f]Hester[/name_f].
I do love [name_f]Helena[/name_f] though - hope he comes round!!
You’re right, there doesn’t seem to be an abundance of princess-y H names… Several names from Greek mythology that you might consider (like [name_f]Helena[/name_f] - [name_f]Helen[/name_f]), and a few other sources:
[name_f]Helia[/name_f] - feminine form of [name_m]Helios[/name_m], meaning ‘sun’. [name_f]Helia[/name_f] was a daughter of the sun god [name_m]Helios[/name_m] in Greek myth. It’s also used as a Portuguese name, spelled Hélia
Hellenore - a character in [name_u]Spenser[/name_u]'s The Faerie Queene
Heliabel - sister of [name_m]Perceval[/name_m], one of [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]'s Knights of the Round Table. Another name in Arthurian legend is Helizabel
[name_f]Halia[/name_f] - means ‘briny’, a sea nymph who was reincarnated as the goddess Leucothea
[name_f]Hara[/name_f] - modern Greek spelling of [name_f]Chara[/name_f], meaning ‘joy, happiness’
Hariclea
Heliodora - ‘sun-gift’, a rare Spanish and Portuguese name (so the H is actually silent)
Helianthe - or Heliantha, meaning ‘sun-flower’
Héliette - [name_m]French[/name_m] name, also spelled Hélyette
Hanalei - Hawaiian name
Harpa - Icelandic name
Hillevi - Swedish and Finnish name
Heidelore - [name_m]German[/name_m] name, ‘high-da-loh-ra’
Heikedine - another [name_m]German[/name_m] name, ‘high-ka-dee-na’
Homaira - Persian name, also spelled Homeyra
Helladia
Hilaeira - from the Greek word ἱλάει”α = ‘mildly shining’, an epithet of the moon goddess [name_f]Selene[/name_f], also latinized as Hilaera
Hesperia
Helvia
Heleia
[name_f]Hypatia[/name_f]
Hereswith
Hesione
[name_f]Hosanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Hyacintha[/name_f]
A lot of good suggestions… and I do like [name_f]Honora[/name_f] but I think my husband is going to have to fight me because [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is so perfect!
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] was the first one that came to mind for me. But maybe she’s more of a Disney [name_f]Princess[/name_f] than a strong, feisty, empowering [name_f]Princess[/name_f] like [name_f]Helena[/name_f].
Some other H names (I’m not sure they’ll fit your vibe but worth mentioning them anyway)…
Also [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]. I think these are the prettiest of the H names. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f].
Im not a big fan of [name_f]Holly[/name_f] either. Good luck! [name_m]Will[/name_m] be curious to see what H name you end ujp liking
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is the least princess like, but its such a beautiful cute timeless name.
I second [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f],
Other names
I like with H
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f]Helga[/name_f]
[name_f]Heloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_m]Just[/name_m] curious is there a family reason for H?
For our first daughter my husband named her his favorite name: [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Honor[/name_f], for our second daughter I named her my favorite name [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] (my maiden name) so we accidentally went in alphabetical order AND they both had H middle names… it was a total fluke! But, once we were having our third daughter we couldn’t help but give her a G name so we went with [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. Now that we are having our fourth daughter we feel
compelled to stay with our accidental theme. Sooooo we need an HH name… this is definitely our last child.
I feel [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is the best possible choice. Hubby isn’t so sure. But I’d love the sib set.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Honor[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] (if I get my way)
