I don’t see [name]Hayley[/name] (I prefer this spelling, it just looks cleaner to me) as dated at all, and I don’t see it as having been super popular either, though that might have just been regional. Most Hayleys I know are in the upper teens/early 20s age bracket, but I think it would be cute and refreshing on a baby, and ages well. If you love [name]Hailey[/name], go for it. People will always criticise but it’s your baby not theirs.

Thank you Essjay. This name pick, “[name]Hailey[/name]” actually breaks one of my quirks about names, I don’t care for the letter Y in names!? I found though that SOME names look better and are less apt to be mispronounced if using a Y. I don’t think I could however, use TWO Y’s in one name~

[name]Hailey[/name] is a beautiful name! Unfortunately, for me, I know SO MANY! [name]Haley[/name], [name]Haleigh[/name], [name]Hailey[/name]… there is most definitely nothing wrong with the name you have chosen and I am not one to search for the name that “no body has” so I think you should go for it!

My name is [name]Haley[/name] (spelled without the i) and I think that the name is really pretty and sweet but I’ve had some problems with it. First, I have met many many Haleys (with various spellings) and all through elementary and middle school, I was [name]Haley[/name] H. because of multiple haleys in my class. Also, with the many spellings, almost no one spells it right. The spelling I would go with, though, is [name]Hailey[/name] because it is the most common and most people spell it that way,but she will also get [name]Haley[/name], [name]Hayley[/name], [name]Hailee[/name], [name]Hayleigh[/name], [name]Hali[/name], etc. Overall, though, I think it’s a wonderful name and definitely not dated! [name]Hope[/name] I helped!
~[name]Haley[/name]

I prefer original [name]Hayley[/name]. I like it

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Hailey[/name] and yes, this is my preferred spelling. This name is definitely on my long list

I knew two [name]Hailey[/name]'s (different spellings, can’t remember which) and heard of another one growing up, so I don’t see that as a lot at all. It’s a cute, spunky and sweet name. If you love it, use it!

I think [name]Hailey[/name] is a really beautiful and sweet name and if you love it you should definitely go for it! Concerning popularity, I think that the name is decreasing in popularity but still not so far past popularity that it would be dated. In contrast, in a decade or so, [name]Haven[/name] will probably be more dated. I like both names though!

[name]Hailey[/name] is popular and follows a couple of hot trends: (1) it has two favourite sounds en vogue (“ay” & “ee” ending for girls); (2) it’s a surname. I prefer [name]Hailey[/name] or [name]Haley[/name] spellings because I also have an aversion to y’s in names. I think it has a pretty sound but it does sound cutesy to me. I can’t see it aging well but then again we’re going to have a lot of grandmothers named [name]Hailey[/name] in the next 50 years or so. [name]Haven[/name] has the popular “ay” sound as well as ending in “n” like so many popular names today (especially for boys). It’s also a celebrity child name so I would stick with [name]Hailey[/name].

I don’t like [name]Haven[/name], but I dislike [name]Hailey[/name] more. It’s just so very dated.

I have a [name]Hailee[/name] and a [name]Haley[/name] in my class this year. I also have a Kaylei and a [name]Kaylee[/name]. The -aley names are very popular!! I had a [name]Haven[/name] in my class two years ago, was indifferent to the name. I would go with [name]Jocelyn[/name].

I’m not a fan of either, but I dislike [name]Hailey[/name] more than [name]Haven[/name]. [name]Hailey[/name] is very dated, overdone, and doesn’t have any real substance to it. Not my style at all.

[name]Hailey[/name] is very popular/trendy and will one day be dated. [name]Haven[/name] is very much associated with [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Alba[/name]'s little girl.

I would personally choose [name]Haven[/name].

[name]Hailey[/name]'s popular, but I don’t personally run into a ton of them. It’s a pretty name, and if you love it, you should use it. Finding a name that 1) you love and 2) you and your partner can agree on isn’t easy. I don’t think popularity should count for much compared to that.

In any event, I’ll always pick [name]Hailey[/name] over [name]Haven[/name]. I find [name]Haven[/name] sort of tawdry.

We ended up having a little girl born in early [name_f]July[/name_f]. Her name is [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]. I was being badgered for what seems like an hour, but couldn’t have been more than 10 minutes at most, “What is her name?? What are you going to name to her?”. My husband staring at me with affection and a bit dazed at being the prospect of being a father to two girls now, after we were both so sure SHE was going to be a HE, “[name_f]Honey[/name_f], what name are you choosing?”. I couldn’t do it at first. I was torn between [name_f]Janessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], each for our own personal reasons. I had fallen in love withe the name [name_f]Janessa[/name_f] and thought [name_f]Jazmine[/name_f] and [name_f]Janessa[/name_f] would be a great sib set, but when I looked at the new baby set to my chest, she was NOT a soft and prim [name_f]Janessa[/name_f]. No, I was looking at an exact replica of me and a very good potential for a boisterous, rambunctious, over lively tom-boy with big beautiful blue eyes and a face like a cherub that melted your soul, so she was named [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], which felt very right; a bit cute, not too girly. [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] is over 3 months old now and is a very happy baby, but she is already getting ahead of herself and will be quite the handful as she grows into the world around her, in fact, I am sure the world will meld to her a bit, she’s that rambunctious already, definitely not going to be a princess [name_f]Janessa[/name_f]

Nice to hear you used [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]! I just posted a thread asking about the name for my baby due in 5 weeks. That’s the first baby I’ve heard of with the name in a long time, and I find [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] MUCH nicer than [name_u]Haven[/name_u] or [name_f]Janessa[/name_f]! Congrats!

My preferred spelling is [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]. I like “[name_f]Hallie[/name_f]” as a name even better.

I prefer other spellings, such as [name_f]Hayleigh[/name_f], because it adds a fresh pop to the overused (but gorgeous) name [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]. It may not be as popular elsewhere, but I have 3 Haileys just in my grade, 2 in the grade above, 2 in the grade below and 5 in my school besides. (That’s a lot.)

[name_f]Hailey[/name_f] is pretty and spunky. It has gone down in popularity, so I think it is very useable. My daughter has one [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] in class with her. She’s in 5th grade. The [name_f]Emily[/name_f] brigade, otoh, are [name_f]Emily[/name_f] H, [name_f]Emily[/name_f] C, [name_f]Emily[/name_f] …

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

I don’t think [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] is dated. It wasn’t like [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] were where there were dozens of them everywhere you went. There were usually more than one in a class (I was born in 1990), but I don’t think that makes it only a name of the 90s. I can see a baby with the name, a 20-something with it, and can even imagine a grandma with it. I prefer the [name_u]Haley[/name_u] spelling (as does spell check, apparently), but if you love [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], I say go for it!
