Hallie?

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]? It’s one of those names I like, but I’m just not sure. I’m not a fan of unisex nicknames, so I wouldn’t want to call a future daughter “[name_m]Hal[/name_m].” Still, [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] has a nice warmth to it.

I love [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]! I think it’s sweet and gentle, familiar but not overdone and just lovely!
I think [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] might get called [name_m]Hal[/name_m] sometimes by friends or family, but she’d probably go by her full name. Though if you absolutely despise [name_m]Hal[/name_m] I wouldn’t do it.
A solution would be a longer name with [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] as a nickname. If [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] was the nickname they wouldn’t give her nickname another nickname lol. Maybe [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_u]Harlow[/name_u], [name_u]Halston[/name_u], or [name_f]Helena[/name_f]?

I think [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is okay. It’s not a personal favorite, but I can see the appeal. I have known a few Hallies with a range of personalities, so I don’t really have a wholly positive or wholly negative view of the name. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Now that I’m thinking about it, I would probably say I like the [name_u]Halle[/name_u] spelling better, but either way, it’s certainly a fine name. And I agree with @tallemaja that it’s familiar, but not overdone, which is always a good thing!

Love [name_m]Hal[/name_m] or [name_u]Hale[/name_u] for a boy, dislike [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] intensely. I have known such mean girls named that, my ill luck. I’m sure there are plenty of nice ones elsewhere. Also, I love [name_u]Holly[/name_u].

Holly is very pretty! I do love the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] associations.

Hallie is sweet! I don’t think [name_m]Hal[/name_m] will be an issue much further than a pet name.

I like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], it seems like a nn to a vintage name.

But it can still be considered a standalone

Hallie is one of my long-time loves! :sob::heart: [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite childhood movie was The Parent Trap so I have a positive association. And I personally love [name_m]Hal[/name_m], though I understand why one wouldn’t like it.
Reasons I couldn’t commit:

  1. Couldn’t decide on a spelling, I think I’d rank them [name_f]Hally[/name_f] > [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] > [name_u]Halle[/name_u]
  2. It feels too nickname-y for me, even though I love short names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] didn’t love the long forms: [name_u]Halston[/name_u], Hallison, [name_u]Halsey[/name_u] etc. Though someone suggested [name_f]Halcyone[/name_f]! Which I LOVE but I think it’s a bit too brave for me.

One of my good friends is [name_u]Halle[/name_u] and it’s beautiful name. I like her spelling better but maybe that’s just my familiarity with it.

Halle is beautiful! I love the ethereal spelling. I’m not sure if the pronunciation is immediately obvious, though, which is my only hesitation.

It’s a lovely name! I like both spellings-- [name_u]Halle[/name_u] and [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]

I feel [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is a bit dated, honesttley, especially because in the last 15 years all spellings of [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] were ubiquitous. I think [name_u]Holland[/name_u] is cool…and [name_u]Holly[/name_u] is very sweet.
