Hey, I am currently pregnant with my third child, we know the sex is a girl and she is due in [name_f]October[/name_f]. We are going to name her [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Polly[/name_f] as [name_m]Paul[/name_m] and [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] are names in both our families so it is special to us. Me and my wife both love Halloween and autumn so we are quite excited about having an [name_f]October[/name_f] baby. We are stuck on a middle name, so far we have names from Halloween films [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] and [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]. We can’t decide on what middle name sounds best, and which looks best. Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks
Edit: what do you think of the middle name Mavis? Our children love Hotel Transylvania so it would be nice for them to know the correlation
Edit: Thank you all so much! Our favourites are Wednesday, Winifred, Mavis and Salem, we can’t choose which one we prefer now! We also love Octavia but her initials would be pot as our surname begins with a T, this could be two things 1. A witches pot or 2. The drug, we have a son with the initials bat so it wouldn’t be a problem if people thought of a witches pot or a plant pot but we think it may be too associated with the drug
Edit: sorry for editing again but just realised that our surname is Taylor and Paulina Wednesday Taylor may sound odd because of the double ay sound
I think [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]! Whilst I love [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], I think it sounds a little clunky with her first name. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is also a good option, but [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] has more Halloween spirit (a clearly recognisable reference, without overtaking the image with overt spookiness).
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is adorable! I love Halloween themed names too. Gotta love [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_m]Sanderson[/name_m]!
I really love coraline! It’s interesting and would work very well with [name_f]Paulina[/name_f].
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] might be a bit of a stretch with the name
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] but it kinda works.
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] is not my favourite but I have know many nice Kathleens.
Since I’m pretty sure you’re referring to the [name_m]Adams[/name_m] Family with [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] as a name. I think [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] sounds beautiful but the character off the [name_m]Adams[/name_m] Family puts me off a bit. Good luck with your names though! Also have you thought of the other [name_m]Sanderson[/name_m] sisters?
Paulina [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] is my favorite of your choices, I think, though I do love the Hocus Pocus connection with [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. A couple other options could be [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] (Halloweentown), [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] (Scream), [name_f]Samara[/name_f] (The [name_m]Ring[/name_m]), and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] ([name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]’s [name_u]Baby[/name_u]). The Nameberry list cactusgram linked has some great ones, too.
Thank you, we did consider the other [name_m]Sanderson[/name_m] sisters but I have never met a nice [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] so I don’t like it for that reason and I am not too big a fan of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] however I wouldn’t rule it out completely
Congratulations! [name_u]Love[/name_u] that [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] has a special meaning to you.
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] - It’s okay… I think I was so scarred by [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] as a child that it has put me off this name! The flow isn’t bad but I’m not convinced by the fact that lina/line is at the end of the both these names even if they are pronounced differently.
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] - I actually really like this and it flows well. Personally, I would prefer a more modern middle name with first name [name_f]Paulina[/name_f]. But I’ve never denied how much I love [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]!
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] - I like the meaning of [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] but I think it rhymes too much with [name_f]Paulina[/name_f].
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - This is my favourite of your ideas so far! I like that [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] is modern and I think it balances the older [name_f]Paulina[/name_f].
Thank you for your comment and suggestions! I really like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] but unfortunately I already have a daughter with the middle name [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
Thank you for the suggestions! I love [name_u]Salem[/name_u], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] and [name_u]Raven[/name_u], though I think it may sound ironic if I used it as I have a massive fear of birds
Living for this! I love all of the names you’ve chosen and feel like they all, somehow (magic?), work well with [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. I think my favorite from your list is [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f].
Other middle suggestions:
[name_f]October[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarice[/name_f] ([name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs)
[name_u]Blair[/name_u] (The [name_u]Blair[/name_u] Witch Project)
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] (Scooby Doo)
[name_u]Salem[/name_u]
[name_f]Prue[/name_f] (fictional witch in Charmed)
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] (reminds me of spiders! Maybe another fear?!!)
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] (I get mega Halloween vibes from this name!)
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Circe[/name_f] (just found that [name_f]Circe[/name_f] means bird so probably not!)
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] (as in [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] the Witch, if you’re not a fan of nickname-like names as a mn, maybe [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] would be a subtle link?)
Wednesday is a fun middle name that pairs well with [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] (which I love, by the way).
What are your thoughts on [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]? After the female character mentioned in [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_m]Allan[/name_m] [name_u]Poe[/name_u]’s poem “The [name_u]Raven[/name_u]”. It’s my favorite “spooky” Halloween name. I like how [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] sounds, though you may find that it has too many similar sounds with the L and the N.
Another option could be [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f]. Is it too much? Maybe! But it means phantom queen and that is such a neat thing to add to a Halloween-season baby.
Thank you for the suggestions, surprisingly I have never had a fear of spiders! I don’t mind nicknames as middle names in fact I have a niece with the middle name [name_f]Suzy[/name_f]
Thinking of some more Halloween films and my children love Hotel Transylvania, does [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] go well as a middle for [name_f]Paulina[/name_f]?
