Halloween, witchy, folk lore, etc....

I am looking for girls name suggestions. I like Halloween, witchy names (think good like [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Glenda[/name], [name]Sabrina[/name]!) fairy tales and folk lore, gothic etc… I’d love to hear all your suggestions! Thanks!
Right now we are pretty set on [name]Tabitha[/name], but I’d like other possibilities that I may not have thought of!

I really like [name]Tabitha[/name] & [name]Sabrina[/name].

Other suggestions:

  • Belladonna
  • [name]Luna[/name]
  • [name]Clove[/name]
  • [name]Desdemona[/name]
  • [name]Ember[/name]
  • [name]Samara[/name]
  • [name]Nirvana[/name]
  • [name]Evilyn[/name] (ha)
  • [name]Lilith[/name]
  • [name]Morgana[/name]
  • [name]Narcissa[/name]
  • Oleander
  • [name]Raven[/name]
  • [name]Salem[/name]
  • [name]Twila[/name]
  • [name]Willow[/name]
  • [name]Autumn[/name]
  • [name]Pandora[/name]
  • [name]Sage[/name]
  • [name]Ivy[/name]

Here are some names from the TV show bewitched:

They’re very different in style and none of them directly bring to mind the witch association the way [name]Tabitha[/name] and [name]Sabrina[/name] do, but they’re all pretty names (I especially like [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Esmeralda[/name]).

There’s also Elpatha from Wicked.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really like the suggestion of [name]Ember[/name]! I never thought of that!
Also, we have thought of Endora…do you think that’s too crazy? I do, but my husband actually loves it! He wants to call her Endora [name]Belle[/name]!

[name]Rhiannon[/name] (welsh witch)

There is a post on the girl’s board called," Looking for
a gothic sounding name", that you might like. I bumped it up for you.

Oh yeah, I just saw that! thank you!!!

[name]Do[/name] ya’ll think [name]Elspeth[/name] or [name]Elsbeth[/name] fits my naming criteria? And where does this name come from? I mean, I know it’s Scottish (which my family is, literally, my Mom just became an American citizen recently), but is it from a book or a character from a movie or play?

Sinthia - I kid you not this name pops up my family tree. It could be misspelled but it’s there.
Any herb name gives me the witchy apothecary feel.
[name]Nigella[/name] - it has a sweet meaning though - “love in a mist”
[name]Aspen[/name] ect.

Or any element name could lend the same feeling as well.

Azara - Persian and I found to mean “scarlet” and also “fire”.
[name]Seraphina[/name] - “ardent; fiery”

Or names that represent the moon -

[name]Luna[/name] - mentioned above
[name]Cybele[/name] - many variations of the spelling.

[name]Elora[/name] has and Endora feel to it.

Possiblites are endless here. What great fun.

[name]Zenobia[/name], also love another poster’s suggestion of [name]Elspeth[/name].
[name]Tabitha[/name] is so cute, too! Also love [name]Serena[/name], [name]Samantha[/name]'s cousin. Too bad [name]Wendy[/name] isn’t in style. I just love it as a nn for [name]Gwendolyn[/name]. When I was young I wanted to be named [name]Wendy[/name].

I don’t know if this is what you are going for, but to me, a lot of the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] names have become fairly witchy to me:

[name]Morgan[/name] LeFaye

I’d love to help some!

[name]Jillian[/name] (from Practical [name]Magic[/name])
Hecate (goddess of withcraft)
[name]Catarina[/name]/ [name]Katarina[/name]

Oh thank you so much for all your suggestions! So many good names to choose from!

[name]Do[/name] you mean Elphaba? That’s the main character’s name. The author made it up from L. [name]Frank[/name] Baum’s initials, LFB (the original author of the [name]Oz[/name] books.)

I did mean Elphaba - thanks
I don’t know where that typo came from - I guess I was still thinking about [name]Tabitha[/name] when I wrote it. Elpatha is horrible!

Endora [name]Belle[/name] is funny

I could see the appeal of Endora, but I personally wouldn’t use it. I don’t think I would dislike it on someone else’s child, though, and the nn [name]Dora[/name] is cute.
[name]Andora[/name] and [name]Isadora[/name] are similar in sound and I like both of those (especially [name]Isadora[/name]!) but that’s getting away from the good-witchy feel you were going for . . .

I don’t know…I think [name]Isadora[/name] could work!

[name]How[/name] about…

My name is [name]Tabatha[/name] so I think you have made an excellent choice  I love my name and people compliment it all the time.

My mom said another girl name that she liked was [name]Serena[/name], which I think has the same “feel” you are looking for.
