[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! Back again, trying to solidify our name for our upcoming little son, and little brother to [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]. Our favourite name is [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], which we both love but are slightly hesitant on because the name is in use in the family. If we can’t find something we love as much or more, we’ll use [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], but I’m looking for other suggestions to weigh against [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] to compare!
What we’re looking for: a name that suits a sweet boy and a kind man, someone cultured, tolerant, and good-natured, someone who is confident and self-aware. An attractive name with history, nothing made up or trendy but also nothing outlandish or terribly dated, ideally with two syllables to match his siblings’ names. Something strong that also has a pleasant sound and a clean look. Something manly, calm & collected, and warm. We like vintage and classic names. We’ve considered [name_m]Felix[/name_m], but [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] & [name_m]Felix[/name_m] are a buddy duo in The Odd Couple and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] looks too much like [name_m]Eli[/name_m] with bookend letters. We’ve also considered [name_m]Milo[/name_m], but a friend has used it; [name_u]Theo[/name_u], but a sister has used it; [name_m]Angus[/name_m], but our son’s stuffed sheep is named [name_m]Angus[/name_m]; [name_u]Finn[/name_u], but find [name_u]Finn[/name_u] doesn’t fit quite right; and [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], which I still adore, but my husband does not. Any help is so appreciated! Give me your handsome, good-hearted boys names!
P.S. Our background is British/Irish/Dutch if that helps, and we have strong interests in literature, nature, and sailing. The middle name will either be [name_m]Erik[/name_m] or [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] to honour really good men that we love.
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] makes me think of [name_m]Kip[/name_m], and [name_m]Kip[/name_m] makes me think of the outdoors and sailing. [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], and [name_m]Kip[/name_m] sound like brothers.
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] fits right in as well, and for me it wouldn’t be a big deal if a friend used it if it wasn’t a super, super close friend that you see all the time. But everyone is different about that.
I also like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] with [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Eli[/name_m]
I really love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]! And it goes great with your littles…

You guys are the best!! Thank you all! There’s so many names I like and love in here. There are a few that my hubs and I both really adore but they feel not-quite-right with our current little guys just because of similar sounds or a shared first initial: [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] among them, although all of those names are just gorgeous. <3 Roland is another one that I LOVE and would seriously consider, but it was the name of a former flame so my husband is not as keen.
I’m tempted by Patrick and Henry, and wishing a little bit that I had a splash of alternate heritage so that I could use Laszlo or Dmitri without it sounding odd with our very Dutch last name! My goodness, Dmitri is handsome! Milo, Theo, and Angus/Gus are still names that we keep coming back to despite the reasons why we should be trying to avoid them.
I’m happy to hear even more suggestions! I love having some solid ones that I can let percolate for the next couple of months before the little man arrives. Hugo still has my heart but I feel open to letting another name come and sweep me off my feet!
