Hank...too farfetched?

I need advice/opinions on the name [name]Hank[/name] for a middle name. We love the choice because it is short and cool sounding. But more than that, the reason we really chose it, is for the meaning. In my research, I’ve learned that [name]Hank[/name] used to be a nickname for [name]John[/name], which is my husband’s MN, his father’s name and his late grandfather’s name. I have also read [name]Hank[/name] is a nickname for [name]Henry[/name]. Now this is where I need advice to whether this is too farfetched or not…my husband’s (other) late grandfather’s name was [name]Harry[/name], which is also a nickname for [name]Henry[/name]. [name]Hank[/name], [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Harry[/name] all have the same meaning (Estate Ruler). So in my farfetched way of viewing this is, it is also recognizing his other late grandfather ([name]Harry[/name]). Is this too farfetched an idea? I just love the idea that this MN could recognize FOUR people!

Additional Details…Big brother is [name]Nolan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] and next baby’s FN will most likely be [name]Declan[/name].

I love it! Go for it!

I have a colleague who named her son [name]Henry[/name] but immediately started calling him [name]Hank[/name] (and lovingly, “[name]Hank[/name] the Tank” as he was a very big beautiful boy!) I have thought it was sweet ever since!!! So unexpected and cute on a little boy.

I don’t think it’s too far fetched. I looked up the connection of [name]Hank[/name] to [name]John[/name] and it was a bit convoluted for me to follow, but I can get behind it anyway via [name]Johan[/name]. I’m not a fan of [name]Hank[/name] as a first name just because I don’t much like the sound, but for a middle name it seems good.

Have you considered [name]Hans[/name]? I feel like that might achieve the same thing (honouring [name]John[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]/[name]Henry[/name]) and I think it’s a nicer name

Thanks for your reply. This is where I received my info… Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos …with that said I don’t think [name]Hans[/name] is as popular a name as [name]Hank[/name] in the US. It’s not exactly my style, but [name]Hans[/name] is a nice name.

I’ve never heard of [name]Hank[/name] being a nn for [name]John[/name] but it certainly works to honour a [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Harry[/name]. [name]Declan[/name] [name]Hank[/name] doesn’t have the best flow but as long as [name]Declan[/name] and your surname sound good together it’s not a deal-breaker. Middle names are rarely used today.

I love [name]Hank[/name]! My son was in [name]Sunday[/name] School when he was small.

I love it and the meaning it has to you! I say you should use it!
