Hannelore

What do you think of [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]?

I like how it sounds slightly medieval and Welsh even thought its of german origin; almost like it should come out of the [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] legend. And the nickname [name_f]Hannie[/name_f] is adorable!

What would you pair with it either using it as a first or middle name?

thank you x

[name_f]LOVE[/name_f] IT! It was one of the names, my parents considered for [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] or Hanneloa. I’d love ti meet a little [name_f]Hannie[/name_f]!

Fairly common name in Flanders, where I’m from, I’m rather wondering how you would pronounce this name in English. The correct pronunciation is ‘Hannuh-Loruh’, the ‘e’ sounds like ‘uh’ in both Dutch and [name_m]German[/name_m].

I am wondering about the pronunciation in English, too. I am familiar with the proper one, as I like the name, but I’m not sure how well it’d be received in [name_u]America[/name_u]. I have [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] on my list, and I like the idea of conjoining them to use [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] as a nn occasionally. I think it’s gorgeous, but I like Hannelotte much more, personally. As a standalone name, anyhow. [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]? [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]? [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]?

Good luck!

I love it and it’s medieval/dark ages feel, although I think if I was ever to use it I’d go with Hannelora… So many nn possibilities… hannie, [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Lori[/name_f], [name_f]Lora[/name_f], Loz, [name_f]Hennie[/name_f], [name_f]Hera[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], hanlie, [name_f]Hanna[/name_f], elora, [name_f]Elle[/name_f]…

Although, the nameberry “advice” on [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] isn’t very favorable :frowning: i don’t agree with it at all.

I enjoy [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f], but I don’t like it as well if I pronounce it in the correct Dutch/[name_m]German[/name_m] way with the pronounced E. I feel the same way about [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f].
It’s a good name either way though.

I am a huge fan of this name. Kind of love at first sight. Haha. [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] [name_f]Idonea[/name_f], [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]… it fits many style, imo.
