šŸŒ¾ harlan + lenorah

hello, friends! :honeybee:

as weā€™re getting a little further along (9 weeks today- yippee!) the name chats have finally been getting somewhere.

to recap

my partner is a lover of all things twangy- think boone, destry, and coy, and greer, louella, and margo.

i seem to prefer a more cottagecore style- with judah, shepherd, and wilder, and mabel, florence, and ada being high on my list!

we do have an angel baby named willa, which i feel fits very well in both corners.

two days ago, while on a hike, it came to me. the perfect names for our little oneā€¦

harlan jesse :wood: + lenorah willa ruth šŸŖ»

theyā€™re rustic and vintage, but feel a little unexpectedly fresh, and all of these names honor family. we are in love!

i would love to hear your thoughts, the vibes you get, and just anything youā€™d love to share!

thank you all :white_heart:

Oh my goodness, I always adore your names!

I think I may have to steal [name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] with this spelling ā€“ Iā€™ve always loved the sound of Leonora/Lenora, but none of the spellings quite worked for me.

Anyways!

[name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is gorgeous and absolutely perfect in every way. I love that it feels both vintage and rustic, like a [name_m]Faulkner[/name_m] character in the best of ways. I absolutely adore the idea of honoring [name_f]Willa[/name_f] with one of the middles, and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] will forever be an impeccable name on its own and for your family. [name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] brings to mind [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_f]Prairie[/name_f], autumnal foliage, cowgirl boots, log cabins, and windows frosted with [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] snow. [name_m]Just[/name_m] all of the lovely things.

[name_m]Harlan[/name_m] [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] is quite sweet and fun. It definitely gives me a rough-and-tumble vibe, almost like The Outsiders for some reason, though I canā€™t identify why. I think it may be because [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] reminds me of [name_m]Harley[/name_m], like the motorcycle. [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] is such a sweet little name and the flow of it with [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] is really lovely. Neither of these names are personal favorites of mine, but I love the sound and it definitely feels perfect for you! Such a handsome name that combines the rustic and the vintage/cottagecore impeccably.

I love seeing Jesse, itā€™s such an underappreciated boy name! Harlan is also a fun choice (I really like Harley on a boy and I think it could be a cute nickname!). Definitely leans more ā€œtwangyā€ than ā€œcottagecoreā€ but what matters is that you both like it (and I think it works wonderfully with both Willa and Lenorah!)

I also love Lenorahā€™s sound ā€“ it feels a bit twangy, but also rather romantic! The only thing I donā€™t love is the spelling. All I can think of when I look at it is ā€œmenorahā€, which isnā€™t a bad association but it just makes it look a bit less name-like to me? So I do like Lenora a lot more + how it feels more sleek and tailored (which matches the twangy vibe to me) as well as being more international. I also like the familiar & classic Ruth as a middle! Willa Iā€™m a bit iffy on ā€“ I think the intention of honouring an angel baby is very, very sweet, but Iā€™d personally feel uncomfortable being named after a sibling whoā€™s passed away. Itā€™d be hard for me having a name thatā€™s associated with something sad and really heavy due to the very personal nature of it. Maybe Willow would be a nice alternative, as a nod to your angel baby without naming your daughter directly after her? Iā€™m sure there are others who disagree and wouldnā€™t feel uncomfortable with it at all, but Iā€™m just throwing my own two cents in!

Overall, the combos feel very warm and outdoorsy which I love :yellow_heart:

i adore these names :face_holding_back_tears:!

i think harlan totally fits in the sweet spot of between your two styles! he feels unique different, spunky and lots of fun. he also is just nice to say and sounds good in a variety of different accents (iā€™ve just tested it out ).

harlan makes me think of a little boy, sweet, kind and independent. heā€™s always got chocolate and cream covering his mouth and his big gummy smile. he loves playing outside and with all his toys and brothers and sisters.

iā€™m really enjoying this and as iā€™ve done once or twice iā€™ll do a little ā€˜envision your comboā€™ and here is who sweet harlan jesse is to me.

mr harlan jesse

miss lenorah is special. she feels different and fresh. she makes me think of a little girl who is a complete force to be reckoned with, doesnā€™t particularly want or try to fit in as sheā€™s her own person. has a vibrant mind filled with creative and artistic ideas, and just all round a fun and spunky girl to be around.

i also am in love with her middle names! willa is just so beautiful and fun, sheā€™s like sweet willow but more fun and different. the only willa iā€™ve known has been fun, sweet and kind so to me sheā€™s the sweetest middle name as well as honouring your sweet angel baby willa. ruth is fun, vintage but not old fashioned and seen better days. ruth is sweet, funky and just a heck ton of fun!

i could totally see you having a lenorah! she just feels like such a ā€˜youā€™ name. iā€™ll add my interpretation of who i think sheā€™d be!

miss lenorah willa ruth

i hope this helps and you enjoy! :sunflower:

These are gorgeous and feel so well fitted to both of your styles!

[name_m]Harlan[/name_m] [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] is so warm and rugged - this feels exactly like the kind of name that comes to you on a hike - outdoorsy, earthy and friendly - a name for an adventurer, but something musical and smart sounding about it too

[name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is beautiful - itā€™s got that twangy-vibe, but also vintage cosiness. That -h ending softens it, stops it feeling overly elegant and princessy (not saying thatā€™s a bad thing for it to be, but not sure thatā€™s your vibe) and feel more friendly and charming. [name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is so appealing to say

These are beautiful! I love them so much. I would usually prefer [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] over [name_f]Lenorah[/name_f], but there is something magical about that spelling. You are going to have one beautifully named baby

Ahhh congratulations :tada:

Honestly I found that finding the dream name for my little one made everything feel really real but definitely took me longer than 9 weeks to find the one! Itā€™s really love that you had this intuition :yellow_heart:

[name_m]Harlan[/name_m] [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] ~ [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] feels rustic, stylish and modern definitely embracing that twangy feeling that your partner loves. I also think [name_m]Harley[/name_m] could be a cute nickname. [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] is such a under appreciated classic and definitely gives the cowboy flair with [name_m]Harlan[/name_m]. :wood::horse::cactus:

[name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] ~ absolutely love the [name_m]Leo[/name_m] names I love [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] on my own girl list. I think [name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] is sweet, classic name that feels warm and romantic. Iā€™m not overly keen on the ā€˜hā€™ as I do feel sheā€™s a little redundant. I prefer the more streamlined [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]. Still I appreciate that the h is a nice nod to you and your name. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is a lovely middle name choice paying tribute to your angel baby which is a lovely sentiment. Finally [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] rounds the name of beautifully. Sheā€™s very on the prairie. Definitely more your vibe! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name :tulip:šŸŖæ

Completely lovely pair for your style!
Harlan Jesse is, to me, one of those boys that goes around wearing cool jumpers and does skating or a martial art since he was five. Heā€™s fun, a bit of an extrovert and probably very chill and laid-back. I suspect many kids had a crush on him in fifth grade.
Lenorah Willa Ruth feels like sheā€™d be dragged along but overall prefer hanging out with some girls in the bleachers laughing about how many of her friends like her brother ā€” either lots of people knew her first as Harlanā€™s sister who keeps to her friends or always forgets theyā€™re twins. She feels alternatively outdoorsy or bookwormy to me, both in a cozy way. I can totally see her curled up in bed with a book texting her friends during the weekend. And I love the honor middle!
Nicknames for Harlan: Har, Harle, Arlen, Arle, Arlo, Hesse/Hess, Jess (feels like Arle or Arlo would fit the vibe I described the most)
For Lenorah: Leah, Lena, Nora/Norah (my favorite for this vibe is Leah, but they all fit)
Overall I love the duo!

These are absolutely lovely names and I think they fit very well with what you are looking for. I do personally prefer the spelling [name_f]Lenora[/name_f], but part of that is never having seen [name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] and it does have a bit more of a country vibe which it sounds like you like.

Well those are some stunning names! [name_f]Lenorah[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] flows incredibly well, and of course the nod to your angel baby is so sweet. and Iā€™m especially a fan of [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] [name_m]Jesse[/name_m], which is handsome, foresty, soft but cool!

And this is a take it or leave it suggestion, but since your girls name has 2 middles including the honor, I do think [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Jesse[/name_m], [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m], or something similar would be absolutely darling as well.

Anyway, big congrats! And if you come up with other names further in that feel right too, donā€™t feel like you have to stick to an ā€œoriginalā€ decision. Of course, whether you keep these or not your baby will have a gorgeous name.
