Thoughts on [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]? I am struggling to come up with a name I love for my 4th child as much as my other kids names. I have a [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and #4 is a girl.
I am wanting something feminine, a bit vintage and classic but not terribly common. Does [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] fit my criteria? Thoughts on possible middle names?
I love [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and would be seriously considering it for our [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] baby if husband was on board! [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] makes me think of [name_u]August[/name_u] afternoons, [name_f]Queen[/name_f] Anne’s lace, old letters and straw hats, but my association with [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] the Spy gives it a spunky feel too. I think it goes perfectly with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Nicknames [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] are adorable too. One consideration is that if you are in the American [name_u]South[/name_u], people may pronounce Hairy-et which would not be ideal.
I love [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and would have used it for my daughter (I called her [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] for a while in utero) but for her last name starting with T - made me stumble on the name. I find it to be a vintage, happy, forthright, lovely name; story-book sweet. I think it goes superbly well with your other names - can imagine them in some sort of kids’ detective novel. All get their own starting letters and name endings which is a bonus!
I like [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and love [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]! It goes so well with your sibset. To me the vibes are classic children’s books, pinafore dresses, feeding a shiny red apple to a pony, neat hair but a mischievous smile, scrapbooks of old photos, piano scales, exploring secret attic rooms. It’s classic and timeless with a little bit of a kick!
Harriet is beautiful, elegant, and chic! I love the clunky, cute vintage energy, and she is full of charm and personality!! ! I love it and think it’s sooo adorable with Phoebe, Oscar and Rose! Plus the nickname Hattie is super cute I personally know a Harriet, and she wore her name so beautifully, and it truly fit her personality! She was one of my grandmother’s best friends, and she was extremely fabulous, glamorous, and stylish, with a big, spunky, sweet personality , so when I hear the name Harriet, I think of her energy, and I just adore it
Also, I disagree with the comment about how pronunciation might be a problem in the South, because I am from the south, and the Harriet I knew pronounced her name “Hair-EE-it”and I always thought it sounded beautiful. I don’t know how it is pronounced in other areas, and I’ve never met or heard of anyone else who has the name.
I feel [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] pairs well with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] but not as much with [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I do love the name [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] though. Other suggestions :
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and
