We are expecting a little girl in the upcoming months. I suggested the name [name_f]Harriett[/name_f], which my husband now loves. I feel he is pretty set on this name ([name_f]Harriett[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]). Im having some reservations that maybe [name_f]Harriett[/name_f] is too clunky (even though I like clunky names), but I can’t seem to come up with anything better. Thoughts?
Other names we considered:
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
Congratulations!
I think [name_f]Harriett[/name_f] is great! (Though I’ve only seen it spelled [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]) and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is absolutely lovely (one of my favorite names of all time). [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] comes with great nicknames ([name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Hettie[/name_f]). It’s unexpected on a little one but I think “clunky” is definitely coming back in style (without being trendy) and will be a refreshing choice. It also sounds great with brother [name_m]George[/name_m]! I like your other choices too, but if [name_f]Harriett[/name_f] is the name you both can agree on I think you have a winner!
I dislike the [name_f]Harriett[/name_f] spelling. I prefer [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] but it fits very nicely with [name_m]George[/name_m]. [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is stunning! I don’t see [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] as clunky at all but that is maybe because I am in the UK where it is more well known. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] are lovely too. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] would be equally as nice as [name_f]Harriet[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] (I really prefer [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] to [name_f]Harriett[/name_f]) and think it’s perfect with [name_m]George[/name_m]. I don’t think it’s too clunky at all, but I also really like clunky, somewhat dusty, old gems.
Im not particularly sold on one spelling variation over the other ([name_f]Harriet[/name_f] vs [name_f]Harriett[/name_f]). I actually switch back and forth between the spellings in mind. I feel like its my way of dealing with feeling unsure of myself.
[name_m]George[/name_m] was an easy name to pick because I had always loved it, but I never had any girls names in mind. I dont think either of our parents love the name [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] (though we havent spoken of it much). That doesnt really matter because no one liked the name [name_m]George[/name_m], and now they all love it.
I love your style! [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] is adorable. I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as well. I find [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] to be good clunky opposed to bad clunky if that makes sense.
I think [name_f]Harriett[/name_f] is very pretty and goes well with [name_m]George[/name_m]. I can understand your concern that’s it’s too clunky, but you could always have her go by [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], which is cute and seems to fit in with other popular nickname names like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], etc. I think you should go for it! (Also I really like the [name_f]Harriett[/name_f] spelling)
If you’re still uncertain, however, I also love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f].
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] is a bit clunky for my personal style, but I adore the nicknames [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think you’d use a nickname? I think since you like slightly clunkier names, [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] is perfect - goes nicely with [name_m]George[/name_m], and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is a great combo. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] too, but prefer the nicknames for [name_f]Harriet[/name_f].
(By the way, I was just using your word, I don’t mean clunky in a negative way at all. I think clunky names are cool)
