I’m due in [name_u]December[/name_u] and love the idea of giving my baby a name from the HP universe as I’m a big fan and have always thought that JK Rowling was a genius in terms of not only her writing and universe but her character names, some quirky, some girl/boy next door and some downright adventurous.
I am looking for boy and girl names alike and am heavily leaning towards [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] for a girl, but fear it’s a bit too adventurous and a bit of a mouthful. For a boy I simply cannot decide… [name_m]Harry[/name_m] would be marvelous but that would prevent me from using [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] on a future/possible daughter. So maybe a name that’s HP but not too on the nose for a boy?

[name_f]Luna[/name_f]: more common and easier to say than [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]. A bit of a less on-the-nose HP name, but casual fans would get the reference
[name_f]Ginny[/name_f]: more on-the-nose than [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f]: fits in with [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], if you were considering sister names. Could be shortened to [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], if it’s seems too adventurous (I’ve also heard of [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] as a nickname to [name_f]Hermione[/name_f])
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]: same as [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f]: I like the idea of honouring the author, since you admire her writing
[name_u]Raven[/name_u]: as in Ravenclaw
Boys:
[name_m]Potter[/name_m]: a bit adventurous but not as strange as something like [name_m]Sirius[/name_m] or [name_m]Hagrid[/name_m]. I like that it’s unexpected for a HP-inspired name, and has a character of its own
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]: more common, still unexpected
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]: might be a stretch, but Lupin is [name_m]French[/name_m] for wolf-like. Could be a neat way to honour [name_m]Remus[/name_m]
[name_m]Neville[/name_m]: might be a bit expected, but it’s still quite a sweet name
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] / [name_m]Gryffin[/name_m]: as in Gryffindor
