Considering [name_m]Casey[/name_m] for a boy. I know it’s a unisex name but it feels more in the girls camp now, maybe thanks to [name_m]Kacey[/name_m] Musgraves or knowing more girl Cacey’s personally. [name_m]Casey[/name_m] [name_m]Dutton[/name_m] from Yellowstone does make the argument brining it back to the boys side.
Thoughts on variations of [name_m]Casey[/name_m] for a boy, specifically [name_m]Case[/name_m] or [name_m]Cace[/name_m]?
I can see it leaning more feminine lately, but to me that makes it more interesting on boys! Gives it somewhat of an underdog charm.
I can see [name_m]Case[/name_m] or [name_m]Cace[/name_m] work soundwise, but I don’t like how [name_m]Case[/name_m] is identical to the noun and with the [name_m]Cace[/name_m] spelling it throws me off that the two Cs are pronounces totally differently. [name_m]Casey[/name_m] nicknamed [name_m]Case[/name_m] would work great though.
[name_m]Casey[/name_m] is one of the names that is completely unisex in my mind, and I wouldn’t be surprised either way!
Neither [name_m]Case[/name_m] nor [name_m]Cace[/name_m] are for me personally. Maybe you would like [name_m]Cash[/name_m] or [name_f]Cassidy[/name_f]? Although [name_f]Cassidy[/name_f] may be too feminine-leaning for your tastes if you have qualms over [name_m]Casey[/name_m].
[name_m]Cayson[/name_m], [name_m]Carson[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m], or [name_m]Cass[/name_m] could also perhaps be options.
I agree with the general sentiment! It slightly leans feminine but it’s definitely not a girls’ name, still perfectly usable on a boy (and much nicer in my opinion!) I don’t like [name_m]Case[/name_m] or [name_m]Cace[/name_m] for the reasons mentioned by Wandarine.
I think [name_m]Casey[/name_m] is completely unisex choice and I wouldn’t automatically associate as either feminine or masculine. I would probably go for a stereotypically masculine choice in the middle slot like [name_m]Casey[/name_m] [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] nickname CJ. Concerning Case/Cace I’m also not keen on these choices for reasons mentioned by @Wandarine.
Personally [name_m]Casey[/name_m] isn’t my favourite choice I prefer other ‘cass’ names such as [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] or [name_m]Cassius[/name_m].
As a girl [name_m]Casey[/name_m], I notice other Caseys. There are no female kids being named [name_m]Casey[/name_m] anymore. I’ve seen a couple of male children named [name_m]Casey[/name_m].
I would actually suspect that a baby born in 2024 with the spelling [name_m]Casey[/name_m] is a boy. I feel like [name_m]Casey[/name_m] for girls was much more trendy about 20-30 years ago, so if the name is used now for a girl, it’s often with a changed spelling (like [name_m]Kacey[/name_m] Musgraves). [name_m]Casey[/name_m] on a boy feels rugged and a bit cowboy, which feels way more on trend than [name_m]Casey[/name_m] for a girl
I feel similarly about the name [name_f]Riley[/name_f]!
It still feels solidly unisex to me - but maybe that’s because where I am, it’s gone the other way, as in, used to be more popular for girls, now leans more boy. Either way, it sounds neutral to me and works perfectly well for a boy!
I think the [name_m]Casey[/name_m] spelling reads very boy to me - whereas [name_f]Kaci[/name_f] or other spellings seem more feminine. I do think the name is completely unisex to me and I wouldn’t assume either way!
