A friend of mine just had a little girl nn’d [name]Lucy[/name].
I told my SO that it fit and when he asked what I would have guessed I said “something like [name]Molly[/name]”.
He thought I was crazy that I felt that [name]Lucy[/name] wasn’t too far off base and that I think [name]Molly[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are similar.
Am I nuts? Or does he (and others) not see the all-American, sweet, 1950s , nn-name connection that links the two in my mind.
I think they have similar style, but not too close. [name]Molly[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] all sound like a triplet set for me - nickname-y, vintage and spunky.
I can see why you think they have the same vibe, but they don’t to me. [name]Molly[/name] is a warm, sunny autumny name; thin wool scarves and red and orange leaves falling off the trees. [name]Lucy[/name] is white shimmering snow and icicles in a big spooky forest.
Thanks ladies I was starting to think my brain had gone off the deep end with all the odd looks I was getting.
PS:
Otter -Interesting to hear your descriptions of both. I think of both [name]Molly[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] as soft summer sunshine girls whirling around in circles on a country meadow, giggling and laughing. I just picture [name]Lucy[/name] with blond whispy curls and [name]Molly[/name] with heavy lushes waves.
