I’m due in two weeks and the husband and I have all but decided on our little boy’s name, which will be [name_u]Remy[/name_u]! So why am I now having second thoughts?
I absolutely love the name and do think it’s the right choice but feel doubt creeping in. I think it’s more because it’s all becoming real or the fact that it’s such a huge and final decision maybe? I don’t think I really want to change it at all but I guess I’m looking for reassurance to go with my gut.
Some of the other names on our shortlist that don’t feel quite right for whatever reason are:
I know some berries don’t put a lot of importance on sibsets, but it is important to me that it feels right with our other son’s name, [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think they work?
We are an Australian family that live near the beach, my son has blonde, beachy hair and tan skin and want a name that would suit another little beach babe.
We do really love [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and could see it working. We also think the nickname ‘[name_m]Rem[/name_m]’ is adorable.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s the right choice? Is there a better option on my shortlist? Is there any other names that I may have missed?
Sorry for the long post. I have posted a few times before so I promise this will be my last one!
I like [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. I do picture [name_u]Remy[/name_u] on someone with dark hair for whatever reason, and [name_u]Remy[/name_u] sounds [name_m]French[/name_m] to me whereas [name_u]Finn[/name_u] sounds Irish. I think they can work though. Maybe keep the other options open until you meet the baby? I also like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] from your list.
I absolutely adore [name_u]Remy[/name_u]! I have it in long form on my short list ([name_u]Remington[/name_u]). It’s by far my favourite of all your names, and I think it goes lovely with [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. All the best.
They’re all lovely names. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is great - I say go for it. I think it works better here (Aus) on its own than as a nn for [name_u]Remington[/name_u].
It might not be your style, but [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] would guve yiu both [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_u]Freddy[/name_u].
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] are nice, but quite popular. If you don’t mind that, they both work well with [name_u]Finn[/name_u].
[name_u]Sonny[/name_u]'s sweet, and the closest fit to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] in popularity (though [name_u]Finn[/name_u] might have been more popular when your son was born. It’s dropped a bit - I think [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]'s competing). My first association is with [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] [name_m]Bill[/name_m] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] (I don’t follow sport, but the name soaked into my brain anyway). This might not be a problem. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you’re not a fan of his, I doubt people your son’s age will know who he is, and there are plenty of other Sonnys toddling around at tge moment.
All in all, [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]'s my favourite for me, [name_m]Leo[/name_m] would be my favourite if it weren’t popular, but [name_u]Remy[/name_u]'s my favourite for you.
Good luck.Whatever you choose will be lovely. And congratulations!
I have just discovered [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and love it! I wrestle with it sounding too “nicknamey” but in reality it’s great on it’s own. It reminds me of [name_u]Rory[/name_u], which is popular in the land of aus (according to my family in melborne). I say go for it! It’s natural to have name doubts close to the end of a pregnancy- I know I didn’t feel 100% about our daughter’s name for a long time…but somehow I knew it was “the one” anyways. Go with your heart.
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] is gorgeous, my favourite on your list with [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. You’ve loved it this far, go with your gut!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] one additional suggestion for you: have you considered [name_u]Rudy[/name_u]/[name_m]Rudi[/name_m]? It feels like [name_u]Remy[/name_u]'s fair-haired cousin to me. I do adore [name_u]Remy[/name_u] though, and think it work fine for a little blond beach babe
I ended up doubting my choice right up to birth! In the end you do pick the one you love the most. All your names on the list are super cute Aussie beach names. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is the least popular of them all and I think you will get lots of great comments on [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. It’s a little unexpected yet relatable. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is my next favourite but uber popular.
Thanks for your feedback everyone. You’ve reassured me to go with my gut. I love [name_u]Remy[/name_u] so much. I have no idea why I started to doubt it.
There are just so many awesome names and I wish I could have hundreds of kids just to use them all
For those of you that said you liked/preferred [name_m]Leo[/name_m] or [name_u]Noah[/name_u], I can see why. They are both names I really love but the popularity of both here in Aus is just too much for me. [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is a top 5 name and I hear it everywhere and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is getting really popular too. I also have a work friend with a [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and while it isn’t a deal breaker, does turn me off. I don’t mind if a name is popular, but when you hear it so much the names become a little dull than I know it’s too much.
Anyway! Thanks @katinka for the suggestion of [name_u]Rudy[/name_u]. It’s pretty cute but not something I would use.
Also thanks @a_r for the suggestion of [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. It’s really not my style but can see why it could be an option with cute nicknames like [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u].
Thanks again! Only two weeks to go so I’m feeling ready now
