[name]Just[/name] wondering if people have heard the name Breagh used before?? It’s a fairly normal name where I live, I wouldn’t say common or anything but I know of a few I went to school with growing up so I just thought it was a normal name. Pronounced [name]Bree[/name]-a by the way. But when I google the name Breagh or look on nameberry, seems to barely exist on any baby naming sites! I found one site (Behind the Name) that listed it as meaning Beautiful in gaelic. [name]Just[/name] wondering if anyone else is familiar w/ this name at all. I know there would be English spellings like [name]Brea[/name]/[name]Bria[/name] but not interested in that, more interested in this particular spelling: Breagh.
I have to be blunt. That spelling looks like someone is trying to type out a yuck sound with a R instead of an L. Bleagh, is a noise I’d make if I ate something yucky.
I’ve never heard of it or seen it written that way, I hate to agree but it does have a sort of ugly spelling to me! If it is Gaelic I’m sure it seems more normal in [name]Ireland[/name] or [name]Scotland[/name]. I do quite like the pronunciation, though!
It’s funny b/c where I live, this is the only way I have ever seen it spelled! I’ve never met a [name]Bria[/name]/[name]Brea[/name] but can think of 3 Breagh’s that went to my school and also had a little girl I taught daycare named Breagh! That said, I can see how the spelling would look that way if it was unfamiliar so important for me to remember that and how it might be viewed from outsiders ahha thank you. Always appreciate the bluntness, that’s why I ask!! Want to hear all sides.
I know of a Breagh [name]Potter[/name] and a Breagh MacKinnon. [name]Both[/name] are singers from Cape [name]Breton[/name], [name]Nova[/name] [name]Scotia[/name]. It seems to be quite common in that area of [name]Canada[/name] and I would guess that it’s Scottish Gaelic. Beinn Bhreagh ([name]Ben[/name] [name]vree[/name]-uh) is the name of the former estate of Dr. [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Graham[/name] [name]Bell[/name], in [name]Victoria[/name] County, [name]Nova[/name] [name]Scotia[/name], [name]Canada[/name]. It means “beautiful mountain”.

My best friend’s name is Breagh!!! Her mom has always said it’s Scottish but Breagh never believed her and thought she just made it up haha I’ll have to tell them! We’re in Northeast USA for what it’s worth

I’ve never heard of Breagh… at first I thought it was a misspelling of Brigh ([name]Bree[/name]). I prefer [name]Bria[/name], and I usually like the traditional spellings best, but like Penguin said it looks like Bleagh to me.
I’ve never heard of the word Bleagh…maybe that’s why I don’t notice it. I would spell it ‘blech’ if I was going to use that word haah
