Heath for a Boy

Thoughts on Heath for a boy? I am looking for a name that gives off old money, preppy, sophisticated vibes. I feel like Heath could be a nice change of pace from the typical James/Charles/Louis names. But wondering if others get sophisticated/old momney vibes from Heath?

Is Heathcliff a more well-rounded name?

I’m not getting an old money vibe from either [name_m]Heath[/name_m] or [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m].

[name_m]Heath[/name_m] makes me think of the actor, [name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_m]Ledger[/name_m] first. After that it strikes me as a romantic hero name like [name_m]Flynn[/name_m] or [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. Maybe some cowboy vibes in there too?

[name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] is one of the main characters in Wuthering Heights, but he’s not really associated with wealth. He’s a foundling who never fully integrated with his adopted family, is Cinderella-ed when his adopted father dies being forced to work as a servant by his older adopted brother, and then when he finally does obtain money and some status is driven mad by the ways society still won’t accept him. He’s a tragic figure rather than someone who symbolizes wealth and comfort.

[name_m]Heath[/name_m] has more of a friendly, all-American, cowboyish yet soft vibe to me. I don’t like the term old money used to describe names, but I guess I wouldn’t describe [name_m]Heath[/name_m] that way since it feels a bit too down-to-earth and modern to be “old money”, and not especially preppy to me. In my opinion, [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] fits the aesthetic you’re going for a bit better!

Agree with @tallemaja - [name_m]Heath[/name_m] feels more all-American/rugged than preppy to me

I adore [name_m]Heath[/name_m]! but i love him for his friendly approachable feel.

[name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] I could see being old money. If your looking for ao.e more ‘off the beaten trail’ of old money names Id suggest something along the line of [name_m]Percival[/name_m], [name_m]Winston[/name_m], [name_m]Rutherford[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m].

[name_m]Heath[/name_m] is cool - sort of breezy, preppy and sporty.

[name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] feels more gothic and broody and literary rather than old money to me

I really like the name Heath. I find it warm, handsome, outdoorsy and for someone living life on their own terms. I think it could be preppy but also for someone more adventurous and free-spirited. And both of these in one person too.

I find Heathcliff almost a tongue in cheek posh boy name, say, a name in an American satire.

[name_m]Heath[/name_m] is sweet !
I actually see [name_m]Heath[/name_m] as Australian, Surfer Outdoorsy. But I see heathcliffe as old money regal , sophisticated

Other names I think fit the bill are
[name_m]Alister[/name_m]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m]
[name_m]Prescott[/name_m]
[name_m]Archibald[/name_m]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m]
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]

[name_m]Heath[/name_m] is a very charming and gentle name for a boy. However, I don’t think it corresponds to the description of preppy, sophisticated or old money. From my point of view, [name_m]Heath[/name_m] sounds humble, fresh and peaceful.
[name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] is probably a little closer to what you’re looking for, but I prefer the simple [name_m]Heath[/name_m].

I really like [name_m]Heath[/name_m]. I do see it as old money/ sophisticated when I initially hear it and don’t think of the meaning, especially when lengthened to Heathcliffe. But I also think of the outdoors and walking near the heathland.
