Heath or Heathcliff

DH really likes [name]Heath[/name], but not so much [name]Heathcliff[/name]. I’m a little attached to [name]Heathcliff[/name] because of Wuthering Heights, but I don’t mind [name]Heath[/name].

[name]Do[/name] you feel [name]Heath[/name] is substantial enough on its own? If we go with [name]Heathcliff[/name], we can use [name]Heath[/name] as a nickname. But is [name]Heathcliff[/name] too much…too chunky? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

[name]Heath[/name] is like [name]Heath[/name] Ledger or a candy bar. I think of [name]Heathcliff[/name] as the cuckoo for cocoa puffs character from Wuthering Heights. I’m thinking you have more sympathy for him!
Then there’s the cartoon cat…
My vote is for [name]Heath[/name].

I’m w/ sandals. [name]Heathcliff[/name] immediately makes me start singing the [name]Heathcliff[/name] the cat theme song. I love a good literary reference as much as the next gal, but I think the mocking potential outweighs the benefits.

Haha…you’re so funny! You’re probably right.

Thanks for your input and vote!

I [name]Love[/name] [name]Heathcliff[/name], the name brings nothing but wonderful Wuthering Heights associations to me.
[name]Heath[/name] is nice too, and more used to have anyone just think of [name]Heath[/name] Ledger [name]IMO[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Heathcliff[/name]! I think it has so much character and substance, and I’m also very attached to the name from Wuthering Heights. Yes he was a bit crazy and parts of the story are quite tragic but in the end it is really a beautiful story. I would go for [name]Heathcliff[/name] and use [name]Heath[/name] as a nickname. If not, [name]Heathcliff[/name] is an absolutely perfect middle name that fits well with most first names.

I agree but maye that’s because I’m in love with Wuthering Heights. Anyways if you like the name but your husband pefers [name]Heath[/name] than make it a second middle name. That way you have the name [name]Heathcliff[/name] and your husband can call his son [name]Heath[/name].

Thanks! I feel the same about Wuthering Heights!

That’s a great suggestion! I’ll definitely make note of it.

That’s a great suggestion! Thanks for the suggestion and input! [name]Will[/name] definitely make note of it.

I have always loved the name [name]Heath[/name]. I would use it as is. [name]Heathcliff[/name] is a little over the top for me, literarily speaking.

[name]Don[/name]'t do [name]Heathcliff[/name]!

[name]Heath[/name] is beautiful but strong name. He’s the cool surfer guy, the smart strong kid others look up to.

[name]Heathcliff[/name] is a dandy name that will get snickered at unmercifully by other guys and girls will think it’s weird.
I understand we all have romantic notions of [name]Heathcliff[/name] as adult women recalling Wuthering Heights. But the reality is, this would be just a really bad name to be stuck with in the 21st century.

[name]Heathcliff[/name] is too much… he’ll definitely be teased. I’d definitely go with [name]Heath[/name].
BUT since you love [name]Heathcliff[/name], you could use that as your nickname for him (who says nicknames have to be shorter?). My cousin’s name is [name]Nathan[/name], and my aunt calls him [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Hawthorne[/name]. It’s like a special name only she uses. I think you calling [name]Heath[/name] [name]Heathcliff[/name] could be like that. Then both you and your dh will be happy!

I agree. My son’s name is [name]Max[/name] but I usually call him [name]Maximus[/name] or [name]Maximilian[/name]. I could definitely see doing this with [name]Heath[/name] and [name]Heathcliff[/name].
