[name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] reminds me of [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] just reminds me of swans and of the middle ages. I envision a person named Hedwig or Swanhild to be aristocratic.

Hedwig is a bit too [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] to me but [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] is grand and beautiful

I think [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] is beautiful, although I doubt that would be the majority’s reaction. [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] is okay, but don’t like the “head” and “wig” thing. I can see both being used!

I love both of them! I really think they could fit a person. [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] is cool and it gives me a vintage feel. [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] is beautiful and elegant.

Really like the swan part in [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f]. A very nice imagery. The -hild ending sounds nicely.

I really like both names! I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] - it seems like the name of someone very strong, intellectual, passionate, and loyal. [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] is more delicate but has the same strength and grandiosity to it. I would love to see them in a sibset!

I prefer [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f], but personally I don’t think I would enjoy having either of these names. Maybe it’s a cultural thing. They have a very [name_m]German[/name_m]/Nordic vibe and perhaps aren’t so usable in my community. I can see a girl named [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] where I live getting teased about it (“head” + “wig”).

Interesting! As an American I also struggle to see these as usable in my community but I thought I may be biased. I’d love to see Scandi names become more mainstream here!
