One of our two girl choices is [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f]. We know it’s very unusual but we love it, it’s a saint name, and we think [name_f]Heddie[/name_f] is a great nickname, [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] is cute too.
Now we need classic middle names to go with it. Brother is [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m] and last name is Blackwood.
For comparison, the boys choices are Cassius Joseph Merit, Bartholomew Arthur Noble, and Wulfric Tobin Brave.
For comparison, the boys choices are [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] Merit, [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Noble[/name_m], and Wulfric [name_m]Tobin[/name_m] Brave.
Ooh, I’ve actually been thinking about [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] nn [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] for a while now! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who likes this name!
I’m going to be totally honest, i am shocked at how much people seem to like [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f]. I didn’t think this was a serious post, because I could never imagine a little girl named [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f]. Sorry, but I can’t get on board. I am still very surprised by this post.
@larkub101 and uniquenamelover and coco1010 ~ I get it. I know it’s not everyone’s thing, but my wife is [name_m]German[/name_m] and we have a connection to the saint. It’s only one of two girls names we’re choosing, but this might be our only biological child so we want to use a name we feel strongly connected to. She’ll have two middles, one a virtue like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and the other classic so she can use those if she likes.
The rest of you that offered suggestions…
oliviasarah- [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is great. Better than plain [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but still timeless. I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] too.
lawsonhaley- I got to say that [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] are great! I liked
With the nickname [name_f]Heddie[/name_f] all I can think of is a “heady” look it up in the urban dictionary and that might change your mind about that nickname.
With respect… this name is very tied to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]'s owl. Not to mention that it sounds like ‘head wig…’ and is very unusual name to begin with. I would be surprised if a little [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] wasn’t teased in some way because of her name… even the nameberry description says ‘insurmountable teasing opportunities!’ [name_m]Even[/name_m] if she decided to go by one of her middle names later on, that can be a hard transition and it’s always nicer to love the name you were ‘meant’ to be called. [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] is a lovely name and it obviously means a lot to you but I would just keep the latter in mind. Sorry for being so critical.
I really like [name_f]Hedwig[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]… also…
