Heidi vs Sylvie

We’re expecting baby #3, a girl! Older siblings are [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m], and her middle name will be [name_m]Joann[/name_m] after my late grandmother.

Our current favorites are:
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_m]Joann[/name_m]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_m]Joann[/name_m] (possibly SJ)

We like familiar, established names that aren’t heard everywhere. I tend to like names thay are bright/spunky over frilly.

We’ve recently been leaning [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], but I’ve loved [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] for a long time and it still feels special. But l am worried it is becoming trendy?

Which do you prefer with [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m]? And what other names would you suggest for us?

Gosh what a challenging dilemma both names are beautiful

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] I have really loved for a long time she’s ethereal, whimsy and elfish. However I can see why you may find [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] a little on trend she’s a vintage name with the ‘ie’ ending which is people are loving currently. However I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is stunning especially with the imagery surrounding forests, the colour silver and her overall nymph quality she’s gorgeous. I also really like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_m]Joann[/name_m] with the nickname SJ.

So I’ve recently fallen for [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] (funnily enough I’m weighing up [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] [name_m]Coast[/name_m] & [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] [name_m]Coast[/name_m] currently) I just think she’s so joyous and cottagecore. I think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is a beautiful name that just provides this overall happy, cosy warm vibe whilst remaining strong. I think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_m]Joann[/name_m] is beautiful.

Looking at both names I actually think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] fits the best with Bridg3t & Gr@nt she just has this eclectic flair, has a similar strength to your older kids names and I think feels more aligned to your sibling set.

I would suggest [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] + [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]?

Congratulations! I personally prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], but I think with [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] goes better. Either way, they’re gorgeous, and this baby will be beautifully named. [name_m]Other[/name_m] suggestions …

  • [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Marian[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]

Good luck!

I prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] over [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], and like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with siblings [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m]!

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_m]Joann[/name_m] is so sweet

I think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] flows better with [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m].

I really love both, but I think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_m]Joann[/name_m] is my favourite with [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m]! [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_m]Grant[/name_m], and [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] feel so cohesive without being matchy, familiar, cheerful, and a little spunky. [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_m]Joann[/name_m] also has such a sweet, vintage-but-not-fussy feel.

That said, I completely understand why you’re torn over [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is gorgeous and has that same bright, lively quality. It does feel more on-trend to me than [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], though, whereas [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] feels a little more unexpected right now. If “not heard everywhere” is a big priority, I’d probably lean [name_f]Heidi[/name_f].

A few others that came to mind for your style:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruby[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]

But honestly, [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_m]Grant[/name_m] & [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is such a great sibling set. I’d probably choose [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]!
