Helen

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], Berries,

I’m back, because I’m so fickle (no matter how much I wish this were not the case).

We are due with a girl in about three months and had chosen [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] “[name_f]Molly[/name_f]” to join [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but lately I’m doubting our choice and am returning to a name I’ve loved since I was little, [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. She’ll either be called [name_f]Helen[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] are cute nickname options.

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] was my lovely Grandmother’s name and the name of my husband’s great-aunt, who was very important to his family.

So I wondered what you thought of middle names to go with [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. Some of our ideas are either more namesakes to honor family or names we just like. Any other ideas?

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] Merip
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]

Thank you!!

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] sounds really good together! All your name choices are really pretty and feminine sounding.

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are my favorites. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] would be nice as a double name. The problem I’m having with some of your combos - [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], for example - is that they feel a bit geriatric. All of your names are “vintage,” but for the middle name I would go for something that feels fresh again like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] or [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]. The -a brings a lovely rhythm to the combo. It just depends what feel you are going for. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] makes the combo more up to date and trendy whereas [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] makes the name more unique (as the names are not that popular) and historical sounding.

I really like [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is a beautiful name, I love [name_f]Helen[/name_f]!

Thank you for the feedback!

Now this to consider, does [name_f]Helen[/name_f] go with our last name?

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Summers[/name_f] sound too much like “hell in [name_f]Summers[/name_f]” or am I overthinking it?

Overthinking it

I love [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]! I also thought about [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_u]Patrice[/name_u], rather than [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f].

Okay, thank you

I think you should stick with what you have, but if you really want to change it to [name_f]Helen[/name_f], I would do [name_f]Helena[/name_f] instead. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] sounds too old to me, at least [name_f]Helena[/name_f] has some life in it. Or, you could just name her [name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_f]Nellie[/name_f], the reasoning is still there.

My first name is [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and my middle name is [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]. I personally think they go really well together! But, if I were to choose one from your list, I’d say [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I also really liked [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] sounds a little better. Good luck finding a name <3

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are my favourites from your list!

From your list, I like [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

I don’t usually like the name [name_f]Helen[/name_f] very much (nothing against it, just doesn’t strike my fancy) but I smiled when I read the name [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I thought it was very charming.
