We’re expecting our first baby in 7 weeks and still have not agreed on a boy’s name. We’ve made a decision on a girl’s name, but we don’t know the gender so we need to decide on a boy’s name soon. Last name begins with “Sh”.
I like:
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_m]Ian[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
Husband likes:
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
*pretty much anything biblical
We both like:
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] (Family name. A concern is that since [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is so popular, he may be referred to as [name_m]Jack[/name_m] S. in school which doesn’t sound so good.)
[name_u]Shane[/name_u] (Really doesn’t sound good with our last name which also begins with “Sh”.)
A big problem is that I’m not really into the biblical names but they seem to be the only ones my husband likes! (Other than [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_u]Shane[/name_u].)
If you can think of any names that may combine our styles, please share! We are really struggling!
It seems like you like Irish style names. What about something more common from the bible, so it still has the biblical aspect, but not the strong association: [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_m]Samson[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], etc?
Or an Irish version of a biblical name, like [name_m]Sean[/name_m] or [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]?
What about:
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabe[/name_m]/[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_u]Emory[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]
[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u]
If your husband likes biblical names for religious reasons, what about a saint name, like [name_u]Francis[/name_u] or [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]?
You guys have some pretty great names! [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] are my all time favorite boy names. I also love [name_u]Noah[/name_u] but my daughter has an N name so its out for me. My first thoughts are [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] or [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]? I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is so handsome as well and could work as a great middle with so many of your choices. Here are some combos: [name_m]Liam[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Liam[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m] [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]? Another name you might like is [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. Its a biblical choice but sounds like a modern surname so it could be one you both like? Congrats!
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] isn’t all that common these days, at least in my area. I prefer it as a nn for [name_m]John[/name_m], but in any case–I’d use it. [name_m]Zane[/name_m] is an alternative to [name_u]Shane[/name_u]. As to Bible names, I like [name_m]Levi[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m].
Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. I really like [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], and [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]. Hoping they will get added to the list of names we both like:)
