HELP! Due any day, can’t pick a name!!!

Help! I am due any day with my first daughter. I cannot settle on a name. Everyone keeps saying to wait until I meet her, but I know that will only cause me more stress on delivery day.

So. Her last name will be Slonaker, pronounced Slow-nay-ker.

Here are the combinations I am currently considering:
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m]

My favorite first name is [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], hands down. I really want [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] (my brothers name) as the middle name with that, but I worry it’s a mouthful and does not flow well. But I love the nickname options for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], the sunny feeling it gives me, and I love [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] to represent my family and my brother. It definitely has a lot of meaning for a lot of reasons.

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] is the only other first name I keep coming back to. I just like the way [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] flows. It feels sweet, but polished and professional as well. I worry about all of the long O sounds in the full name, including last name. But over all it feels like it flows very well to me. It’s easy to say and it has good rhythm.

So, please give me your opinion on which you prefer. Go easy on my feelings I’m 39 weeks pregnant and I will cry over anything.

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is so perfect! Absolutely amazing!! Elegant, sweet, feminine and meaning. I believe this name is the winner.
This name definitely stands out from [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. I’m neutral to [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and I don’t like [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. I’m sorry.

Both are lovely but [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] wins for me!!

Both combos are gorgeous, but I definitely prefer [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m]. It sounds as if [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is truly your favorite, and [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] has such a deep meaning for you. It’s a bright, distinctive combo, and I think it flows beautifully.

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is stunning!!

I may be a tad biased, but [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is STUNNING!

That being said, sweet [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is your name. It clearly holds a lot of meaning for you. It’s a darling name and flows well. I love all the nickname possibilities as well!

Congratulations!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m]! It’s stunning, memorable, and from what you wrote about it I feel like you’d regret not using it.

I don’t personally like the name [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], but I think that just comes down to personal preference because I’ve found out that I cringe at literally ANY name with a hard “G” in it.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]… I don’t know what it is. They just leave a bad taste in my mouth. However, I do like [name_f]Megan[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. So, who knows.

But honestly, momma… If you love it, go for it.

One thing I’ve always done (and it works, surprisingly) is put them both on pieces of paper. Draw them out of a hat.
As you’re pulling that name out of the hat, you’ll suddenly know which one you’re hoping for.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f] are both beautiful names. I would personally choose [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. I am a nanny, & spend a lot of times at schools, playgrounds & children’s museums. I hear the name [name_f]Nora[/name_f] all of the time. I only know one little [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], & it’s because it’s my friend’s child who’s name I suggested!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Use [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m]. You’ve said that [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is the name you love most, and [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] honors your family. I think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] Slonaker flows just fine (and I’m picky about the way names flow). [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is such a lovely, happy name, and it stands out without being “too much.”

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is really pretty, too, but it’s not as meaningful and it’s not your favorite. Save [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] as an option if you ever have a second daughter – but this little one needs to be [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

I love them both, but I feel [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is in the lead for you!

It seems like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is so special to you so I say use it!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is a thing of storybooks and absolutely gorgeous. As you said, the nickname options are endless and in a way you can stu wait til she gets here to see what nickname you settle on. It’s stunning, unique, wearable, and will grow from baby to womanhood perfectly!

I usually prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] ([name_f]Norah[/name_f]) as far as names go, but [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is sweet, lovely, meaningful, and just perfect for you. I think it flows just fine–go for it!

If you still find yourself coming back to [name_f]Nora[/name_f], have you considered a double middle? That way you can still use it and she could go by it in the future should she not like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] or she doesn’t want to use your brother’s name instead?

[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Annora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]
Evanora

[name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought. Either way, both are lovely choices, so whichever you choose will be fine. I totally understand wanting this settled before she’s here–I’m the same way! Also, you’ll be saying her name A LOT (especially screaming it during those toddler years) and sometimes they look good on paper but you can’t envision it on your actual child. Try closing your eyes and imagining calling your baby that. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] telling people “This is my daughter, [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f]” or “I have to go, need to feed [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f].” Things like that! It always helps me a lot, imagining it on an actual person. Good luck!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is absolutely awesome! It flows nicely too and, considering it also has meaning for you I’d say it’s a much better option than [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. Good luck!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] flows perfectly! I don’t see a problem with it at all!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is gorgeous. It should definitely be your little one’s name!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Reyes[/name_m] is adorable! [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is nice, but I don’t like the repeated vowel sounds. They sort of run together, imo.
