Help! Elena or Hazel?

Huge congratulations Elle! My goodness she’s beyond beautiful such a stunning bundle of Christmastime joy :snowman_with_snow::christmas_tree::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::snowflake::two_hearts:

I hope you’re recovering well and adjusting to the whirlwind of having a new addition!

So predictably both names are gorgeous!! However I have reservations about choosing Elena I think as you prefer ell leh nah and others are saying eh lay nah (which I intuitively say) I would think you could face challenges which this name moving forward. As you’ve got such a gorgeous contender I would be more inclined to go with Hazel.

Hazel is gorgeous. She’s warm, cosy, sweet and comforting. Hazel feels like a cosy oversized jumper holding you close on an autumnal day. Hazel has a similar feel to Flora they feel so homely with pretty cottagecore imagery attached. I love Hazel. I also think she suits Hazel she’s so sweet bless her just like you’d imagine a Hazel to be. Middle name wise I wouldn’t use June I think it’s a bit matchy with M@y.
I love Hope but I think the flow isn’t the best with Hazel. So this leaves Ada + Maude. Hazel Ada sounds nostalgic, happy and warm. Whereas Hazel Maude is more buttoned up, she has a Victoriana dark academia moody library feel. I think Hazel Ada is more fitting for your girl.

Wishing you all the best

these are all lovely names, you can’t go wrong!! i would go with elena hope! i feel like if the middle name was june, then you would feel like you needed to stick to the month theme for middle names if you were to have a third kid. so unless you want to continue that pattern, i would use something else for the middle name! good luck with the name :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Congratulations for arrival of your beautiful baby girl! She is adorable. :angel:t2:

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] are gorgeous names! I pronounce [name_f]Elena[/name_f] Eh-leh-nah.
From your list, taking in consideration Flor@ M@y’s name, I would choose [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] would be my next options. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] is a sweet, colorful, elegant and traditional name. I always imagine that a person named [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] would be gentle, generous and intelligent. Perhaps someone who loves nature and some type of art (writing, painting, photography, sculpture,…).
For [name_f]Elena[/name_f], my favorite combination is [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. It is a very international option. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is a very recognizable name, with a few different spellings and pronounciations, but easy to use in almost every corner of the world. I imagine [name_f]Elena[/name_f] to be energetic, friendly and hard-working. Maybe someone who loves to travel and learn about new languages, history and different cultures.

I’m sure you will decide the best name for your little girl!

I wish you a quick and easy recovery! A wonderful return home with your second baby. A long and healthy life for your girl. :four_leaf_clover:
[name_u]Happy[/name_u] new year :sparkles:

She’s adorable! [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] :yellow_heart::two_hearts:

Congratulations! Purely as a personal preference, I would choose [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]Hazel[/name_u], if it’s an option. I love el-ay-na. But if you won’t want to pronounce it that way, or continuously correct others, then [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] (or [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] Elena–I like how they run together) are lovely with [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. You can’t go wrong as a sibset, really. They’re very well-matched. Good luck!

Congratulations on your daughter’s birth!

I think [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] is the most expected combination from your options as it’s the closest thematically to big sister. It fits very neatly into cottagecore as do any [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] combinations. [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] ties in the one syllable ‘M’ middle name. [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] continues a 5 - 3 letter pattern but it’s also a lot of ‘ay’ sounds along with big sister’s middle name.

I actually love the pairing of [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] most. It’s unexpected and romantic. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is my favourite combination here. It’s fresh and complementary to big sister without matching. I’m in Australia like you, so I’m surprised that eh-lay-na is the preferred pronunciation for those around you. It’s usually ell-leh-na here. I like that pronunciation best myself.

All the best with your decision and recovery.

I prefer [name_f]Elena[/name_f] over [name_u]Hazel[/name_u], but in your situation I’d go with [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]. It perfectly complements [name_f]Flora[/name_f] as a sister name and from the photo, I think it suits your little one!

Would [name_f]Elena[/name_f] be an option as a middle name? I’d suggest using the [name_f]Ellena[/name_f] spelling to get your preferred pronunciation. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] M@y and [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Ellena[/name_f] sounds perfect.

Thanks everyone! We couldn’t agree so we went with our third choice, [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] :star2: both family names from my dad’s side. We feel it suits her perfectly.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is such a beautiful name!! I love it so much! And it goes wonderfully with [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]!

:sparkling_heart:

Because of the pronunciation differences you pointed out, I would go with [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]. But also, I just love [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] and it’s great with [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and she looks like a [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]. :slightly_smiling_face:

[name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is rhythmic and sweet. That’s the combo I’d pick.

Congratulations!

Congratulations for your stunning decision! Stell@ [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a wonderful name. It is a perfect name for a girl born in the holiday season, especially between [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] and [name_u]New[/name_u] Year. :sparkles::star::star2:
I adore that your girls have names related to the earth and sky. Their names sound beautiful together!

Omigoodness, she’s beautiful :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] is my pick as there are just too many pronunciation issues with [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. But my [name_f]Elena[/name_f] pick would be [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f].
You can’t go wrong. [name_u]Love[/name_u] and light xXx

Sorry, just seen that you named her [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] which is impossibly perfect. Absolutely gorgeous name and my fave of all the options. Congratulations once again.
