Looking for some thoughts on how I can include my maiden name into my baby’s middle name [name_f][/name_f]- I only have sister’s so our maiden name won’t be carried on sadly and I feel like it’s a great way to honour my family. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband was all for it when I initially came up with the idea, but so far has hated all my suggestions!
[name_f][/name_f]
So far I’ve got:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Ari[/name_m] for a boy (husband thinks this sounds too much like we’re saying [name_m]Harry[/name_m], but we’ll know the meaning so for me it works)
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Clarie[/name_f] for a girl (to be honest, I’m not a fan either but really struggling to find a girl’s version!)
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] maiden name is Claridge and our baby will have 2 middle names. I’d love to carry the tradition on for all our future babies so the more suggestions the better!
I’d second the idea to just use Claridge, perhaps as the second middle? To me it sounds quite nice and very gender neutral, so it would work for all genders. [name_f][/name_f]If you’re not a fan of a slightly unusual middle name or potentially using the same middle name for all future kids, here’s some more ideas:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Clair[/name_m] / [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clover[/name_f] (Stretchy, but I found some sources that say the first part of Claridge comes from clǣfre[name_f][/name_f], which is Old [name_f]English[/name_f] and means Clover) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cara[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clarina[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clarice[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clarene[/name_f] / [name_f]Clarine[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Clancy[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Claude[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Clay[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
I also think [name_m]Ari[/name_m] is a great option!
Oh Claridge reminds me of Love’s Enduring [name_f]Promise[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] by [name_f]Janette[/name_f] Oke! [name_m]Marty[/name_m] & [name_m]Clark[/name_m] name their son Claridge (who goes by Clare) as an honor name. I personally really like Claridge & would probably use it as one of the two middles [name_f][/name_f] From what I can gather from the internet, the meaning can either be “clover ridge” or “clear ridge”, so incorporating [name_f]Clover[/name_f] for girls & [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] for boys could be an option. You could also go with a name that shares some of the same sounds. I really like the previous suggestions of [name_f]Clary[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_m]Ridley[/name_m], & [name_m]Clarence[/name_m]!
Claridge is actually an awesome name! It’s so unique and actually could work well regardless of gender – it reminds me of a cooler version of popular names like [name_m]Campbell[/name_m] and [name_f]Collins[/name_f].
You have so many beautiful options but I want to second [name_f]Clary[/name_f] which was my first thought [name_f][/name_f]- it’s usually short for [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] but makes a very pretty tribute to Claridge!
seconding ridge for a boy (maybe even for a girl!)
[name_f][/name_f]
i’d also encourage you to just go for it and use claridge in the middle spot! it’s such a fun, quirky and offbeat name and would work wonderfully for boy or girl
I’ll echo the others and say Claridge makes a great middle! A few others suggested [name_m]Clarence[/name_m], [name_m]Clay[/name_m] and [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] for a boy which is what I immediately thought of. And I know a [name_f]Clarisa[/name_f] whose name I always thought was really pretty.
Honestly, Claridge on its own is wonderfully quirky and would be great as a middle for either gender!! [name_f][/name_f]However, I would also second [name_f]Clare[/name_f] or [name_m]Clary[/name_m] and [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] as options- both are gorgeous! I would also add that my favourite Clar- name is [name_f]Clarimond[/name_f], which I think would work well too!
