I need help.
I’m at a loss for finding a girl name I love. I feel like I’ve exhausted every baby name article on the web and scouted through every list and I’ve seen them all and yet nothing feels “right.” No names jump out as being “the one” or even close enough to be put on a short list.
It’s different for boy names, I’m able to connect and claim names there but girl names are on a different field for me.
I tend to like names that are under lists described as feminine/flowy/elegant/posh/antique/fantasy/unique and tend to dislike anything else, especially [emodern/trendy/boyish/short names, which tends to be my problem when finding a longer name I can love that can still have nn potential without the nn being something boyish or overused ie: [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
Names like Eliara, [name_f]Eleora[/name_f], Evianna, [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], [name_f]Luciana[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Mireille[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Marika[/name_f], [name_f]Elisaveta[/name_f], [name_f]Mariska[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Azaria[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], Elyria, [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] all fit the type but are not names I’m especially attracted to.
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Elianna[/name_f], [name_f]Araminta[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Arietta[/name_f], and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] seem almost “nameberry trendy” if that’s even a thing because I’ve seen berries go through waves of crush phases repeatedly suggesting and considering them.
And [name_f]Lillianna[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] all sound too plain and safe to me.
Considered for my shortlist and put on my possible middles list are [name_f]Merriel[/name_f], [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] (my name which I do love but can’t use), [name_f]Angelique[/name_f], [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f], Plumeria, [name_f]Serenity[/name_f], [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f], [name_f]Elianna[/name_f], and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f].
The closest two I’ve come to love is [name_f]Elianna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] but [name_f]Elianna[/name_f] only shortens to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and [name_f]Lia[/name_f], which is way too common of nn’s for me to be happy with and it’s a similar sounding name to another child in my close family. While [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] seems too short and lacking like it should be the nn to a longer name.
I’m drawn most often to four syllable names and I’m especially attracted to Vowels, mainly E, I, and A.
I’ve tried to draw inspiration from long lost names, fantasy, nature, mythology, astrology, religion, history, but all the lists I come across are either not helpful for what I’m looking for and consider [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] a “rare unique name” when I went to school with at least three and [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] [name_f]Grande[/name_f] is quite famous.
I’m even fine with “made up” names that are combinations and mutations of names. Ie: something like Azriella or Elyra. So maybe you have a creative suggestion? I fear at this point it’s my only hope as I’m probably searching for a name that doesn’t exist, a hidden gem that is only a wishful dream. I’ve been searching through baby names since I was just a child and have wanted to find unique fantasy like names for my own kids since I was in middle school around 2007.
I know I’m probably being overly picky but I just want to feel as proud and attached and in love with the name I’ll bestow a daughter as I am with the names I’ve picked for if I have a son. It depresses me to think of having a girl only to have to settle on a name I don’t fully enjoy.
Please, hit me with lists, the longer the better, I don’t mind repeats. Any suggestions would be great. Hopefully, something might at least inspire me.
