[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there
We’ve just had another little girl (now 10 days old!) and we’re really struggling to find a name that suits her! She is very delicate looking and in need of a ‘soft’, ‘gentle’ sounding name.
She has a big sister called [name_u]Berry[/name_u] - so obviously this is a bit of a different name (well it is in the UK anyway), so we’re looking for an equally unique name.
To give you an idea of names we like, but don’t quite work for whatever reason, are:
Unfussy old-fashioned and nature names with a side of personality and spunk - that’s what I’d say about your list. I like them all. Similar names, to me anyway - not sure of the popularity of these in the U.K:
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Dora[/name_f]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Pansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Judy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lula[/name_f]
[name_f]Bea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mamie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sally[/name_f]
[name_f]Mauve[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
Great suggestions. The only thing I can think to add at the moment would be [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. Again not sure of popularity in UK, but had a co-worker name Her daughter [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] and always thought that was cute and spunky.
I wouldn’t go with a nature name for her sister personally… something like [name_u]Berry[/name_u] & [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or [name_u]Berry[/name_u] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is just way too much imo.
That being said, I think [name_u]Berry[/name_u]'s sister needs a unique and unusual name like her big sister, so I’d probably go with a word name.
What immediately springs to mind when you say the words ‘soft’ and ‘gentle’ is the name…
[name_u]Fable[/name_u]
It sounds a little like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], so it’s not completely unfamiliar as a name-like sound, plus F names are massively on the up & up in the UK (e.g [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_u]Finley[/name_u]) so it’s kind of on-trend in a very subtle way too.
[name_u]Berry[/name_u] & [name_u]Fable[/name_u] would be an adorable sibset. I’d be a little jealous if you had both!
With the big sister [name_u]Berry[/name_u], I think [name_u]Bliss[/name_u] and [name_f]Snow[/name_f] sound best ([name_u]Berry[/name_u] & [name_u]Bliss[/name_u] or [name_u]Berry[/name_u] & [name_f]Snow[/name_f])
Trying to avoid ie/y endings, and another poster made a great point that two nature names may be too much… here are my suggestions:
[name_f]Caia[/name_f] / [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] / [name_f]Kaya[/name_f] (even more unusual would be longer form Lycaonia)
[name_f]Roz[/name_f] (not sure if [name_u]Berry[/name_u] has a longer, more proper name, but [name_f]Roslyn[/name_f] is an option)
10 days old and no name?
Berry is tricky. Sorry, but some of these suggestions sound like a beauty boutique or food! Berry & Bliss? Berry & Petal? Berry & Maple mmmm
Barry is a boy’s name, so perhaps something that is not too girly or nature themed.
Here are some names that might fit the bill:
Frances
Leslie
Laurie
Jodie
Darcy
Blair
Meredith
Marion
Marlowe
Lou
Spencer
These are names that used to be used for boys.
Thank you SO much for the fantastic suggestions everyone. After 12 days we named our little girl [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]. It totally suits her.
Thanks again xx
I think you’re totally spot on with your comment ‘Unfussy old-fashioned and nature names with a side of personality and spunk - that’s what I’d say about your list’. Thank you x
