I know some of you won’t like the names due to mispronunciation issues from spelling but Dh & I love it.
We live in [name]Ireland[/name] so it will not be a problem.
A girl I know named her boy Keevan which is the male form of Caiomhe/[name]Keeva[/name] - Looked up the Gaelic spelling and it’s [name]Caoimhe[/name]án. I like [name]Finnegan[/name] but reminds me of a rhyme someone used to sing in primary school.
As someone mentioned above, not sure on the name popularity in [name]Ireland[/name] - I’m from [name]Glasgow[/name] so a good few Irish Gaelic names pop up now and then.
For girls, I’m pretty sure [name]Orlaith[/name] (Or-la) is popular though, as it’s rising here.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Aerin[/name] (Ae-rin or Eh-rin) - apparently it means [name]Ireland[/name], according to Thinkbabynames.com
Brannagh ([name]Bran[/name]-nah), Caoilainn ([name]Cay[/name]-lin), [name]Caragh[/name]/Caera (Car-a), [name]Darcy[/name] (Dars-ae), [name]Maebh[/name] ([name]May[/name]-v), Rhari ([name]Rory[/name])
[name]Dia[/name] dhuit,
Well…If you are set on something super unusual, I do like your idea of using the surname [name]Rafferty[/name]. As you´re Irish I generally would recommend against asking Americans for Gaelic name ideas. All those Irish name lists for Americans are full of errors. [name]Just[/name] look at some of the broad/slender vowel errors and pronunciation errors above. Trying to avoid top [name]ONE[/name] THOUSAND using Gaelic names in [name]Ireland[/name] sounds really really hard. [name]Do[/name] you mean that literally? By the way, I do love [name]Orla[/name] in all its spellings as one commentor suggested. What about [name]Eilis[/name] or Sibeal (no fada button here sorry) ? I was just thinking of unusual gaelicisations of names. Like your ideas anyway and I would never worry about being too matchy, but that´s just me.
Good luck!
[name]Kate[/name]
Congratulations on your quads! I’m quite American and know very little about Gaelic names, but I do really like [name]Tiarnan[/name] (sp? I’ve always seen it spelled [name]Tiernan[/name] in [name]America[/name], but if you use the original spellings for all the others, I would definitely keep to the traditional here!), [name]Rafferty[/name], [name]Finnegan[/name], [name]Ruaidhri[/name], [name]Aoife[/name], and [name]Saoirse[/name]. Most of the Gaelic/Irish names I like and can think of will probably be to mainstream to you… but I have a friend who lives in [name]Ireland[/name] and is a member of this site, so I’ll PM her for you and see if she has any great ideas to pass along. For what it’s worth, I think [name]Rafferty[/name], [name]Finnegan[/name], [name]Aoife[/name], and [name]Saoirse[/name] would be perfect for quadruplets!
I know that these may be in the top 1000, but what about [name]Riley[/name]? I love that name! [name]How[/name] about using it for a girl? [name]Rhylee[/name] maybe?
I also like: [name]Liam[/name], [name]Brody[/name] and [name]Declan[/name].
Not too sure about girls names, i do like [name]Kiera[/name] and [name]Tallulah[/name] though.
Let us know what you pick! Good luck and Congrats!

You could go with [name]Saoirse[/name] & Siofra for the girls and [name]Ruari[/name] & another R name for the boys. [name]How[/name] about [name]Ruadhan[/name] ([name]Rowan[/name])?
Hello - Congrats on your Quads - my Quads turn 15 next month - 3 boys [name]Cullen[/name], [name]Killian[/name] & [name]Riley[/name] 1 girl - [name]Emma[/name]. Good luck! We kept our names a secret til they were born so we didn’t have to listen to everyones opinion! [name]Mary[/name] Driscoll - [name]Peabody[/name], MA
[name]How[/name] about [name]Saoirse[/name], [name]Sinead[/name], [name]Rafferty[/name] & [name]Riordan[/name]? S’s for the girls, and R’s for the boys!
[name]Do[/name] you have links to namelists of top 1000 names in [name]Ireland[/name]? I’m not familiar with [name]Ireland[/name] names. Or do you want non- US top 1000 names? I’m confused. I also thought you lived in [name]England[/name].
Girls
[name]Fionnuala[/name]
[name]Aislinn[/name]
[name]Eireen[/name]
[name]Brighid[/name] (not uncommon I just like it)
Boys
[name]Oisin[/name]
[name]Eoin[/name] or [name]Eoghan[/name]
[name]Malachy[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
Tadgh
[name]Finian[/name]
Ailbe, which according to wikipedia has also been spelt [name]Ailbhe[/name], Elfeis, Ailfyw, & Ailvyw.
[name]Aodh[/name]án, which isn’t unusual but I like it.
Obviously these all mix and match but I think my choice for 2 boys and 2 girls would be:
Crunchymama - The top Irish names are pretty much what was popular in that USA about 20 years ago. [name]Stephanie[/name], [name]Laura[/name], [name]Emily[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Amy[/name] and [name]Megan[/name] are still in the top 20, mixed in with a few Irish classics. [name]Shauna[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name], [name]Susan[/name], [name]Jessica[/name], [name]Nicole[/name], and [name]Amber[/name] are in the top 50. This is going by 2010 stats are the 2011 stats haven’t been released yet. The also only release 100, they don’t release the top 1000.
OP, I can’t believe you are considering [name]Finnegan[/name] and [name]Rafferty[/name] when you live in [name]Ireland[/name]. Those are amongst the most common surnames in the country and the surname trend definitely hasn’t taken off there, if the statistics from the past few years are anything to go by. Very daring choices! [name]Just[/name] be prepared for the fact that your sons may have the same fn as other kids surnames in their class in school.
My recommendations would be [name]Oisin[/name] and [name]Tadhg[/name] for boys, and [name]Aoibheann[/name] and [name]Roisin[/name] for girls. Familiar, yet underused. Good luck no matter what you choose, and best of luck with your quadruplets.
