Help me change my name

ok so due to personal reasons (that have been happening for a few years but have finally come to a head a few weeks ago.) as soon as I turn 18 I am going to change my name and move out of state to escape my parents with only my closest friends/family knowing.

it’s only a few years away and I feel like I should start thinking about what name I am going to be using so the people who know can start getting use to it. I don’t want anything simular to my name because if my parents find out where I am, I at least want them to have a hell of a time trying to figure out where I’m living (I might even fake my death to make them not look for me).

so anyway, my full name is Cassiopeia Danielle Oriel, its a hell of a mouth full and even though I love my name, I want something shorter and totally not like my name. I really don’t care what my new name is as long as its not like my name.

Maybe it’s not a good idea to post about it on a public forum, then. After all anyone can read this, now and years later.

Seconding @Rosebeth - just be aware that this could be searched up

My suggestion is maybe to look into lists that feature names that are the opposite of your name as a starting point - something short, familiar, classic - something not easily searchable and recognisable as one person (I’m thinking along the lines of Zoe Marie, Emma Sophie, Alice Jane, Ruby Claire, Ava Rose, Mia Rose)

ok, so the people have no idea I have this account so there is a less then 1 percent chance that they’ll find it

Yea, I agree something generic is your best bet

guys, I get what your saying about me having my name on this account, but as soon as I change my name, I am going to delete this thread and my account and then get a whole new computer so that way no one will be able to find me.

I also may need to fake my own death sooner or later :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Practical advice: I would choose a VERY common name for people your age. Something like, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m], or another name where there’s gonna be lots of you with that name to throw people off of your trail. As much as you may hate to have a common name, I think this is going to be your best bet into secrecy.

Yes. OP needs as common/normal of a name as possible. Something that when googled + city name gives multiple other people. Something along the line of [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], Lillian/Lily, or [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. It is less fanciful, but would help keep you safer.
