Help me finalize top names/Tied Poll

Okay guys yall have helped me a lot but I just can’t come up with the perfect name. I did a poll & it’s pretty much tied so that’s why I’m here again. My top two first names are Alexis and Aliyah or Aaliyah. Baby is half white half Mexican. Dad & Grandpa’s name is Alex and will be first grand baby of their son (my husband). Also kinda special bc she will be first grandchild of a male in family to carry the family last name. So I’ve always loved name Alexis even before I met husband w name Alex. He loves the name too. I will say lately i bn unsure on it & was thinking maybe use for a middle name. I also love name Alena but too close to other family names to be first given name. I came up with Alexis Selena which gives many nickname options, Lexi, Alexis, Selena, Alena, Alexi, Alexa, Lex, Lexa, Lena, Nina, Selah, Alli etc, also last name starts w B, so I cld even do Alba as nn for first two letters of first & last name. My question is, do you think Selena sounds good as middle name w first name Alexis? One person said they thought it ran together bc of the S’s which I kinda see that. I loved Aliyah Marie bc it just flowed well but typically dont like middle names too common like marie. Some said Alexis Marie is better, which is beautiful (& i kinda agree bc I love Lexi Marie) & may flow better but I love the thought of having two names I love (Alexis & Selena) to give me more options to call her & more nicknames. Marie really only gives you that option & its very common but does Alexis Marie sound more classy & elegant? . For awhile I was playing w idea of incorporating Alexis and Aliyah Like Aliyah Lexi-Marie but it just never felt like the one but still an option. I am between Aliyah Marie (bc it sounds & flows beautifully) & Alexis Selena but wondering if Alexis Selena is too much or doesn’t flow well & something like Marie would balance it out & flow better (Alexis Marie). I’m torn bc I really want more name options with mn Selena but wondering if keeping it simple with marie is the way to go & sounds more classy & simple. Give me your thoughts on my top name choices. Also tell me what vibes you get from Alexis, Aliyah (uh-lee-uh) & Selena. TYSM💗

You have some really pretty choices! in terms of flow and sound, I think [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] sounds light, sweet and lovely. [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] are beautiful too but with a stronger sound, so in that regard you’d have to consider what kind of sound you’re going for. they give me similar vibes- pretty, 90’s girly girl energy, but still work for a baby in 2024.

I understand the hesitation of [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as I think it has to be one of the most popular middle names of all time, but I do think the reason its so popular (besides likely being an honor) is that it’s beautiful and sounds good with nearly any name you put next to it. for [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] you could call her [name_m]Alex[/name_m], [name_f]Lexi[/name_f], [name_m]Alexi[/name_m], [name_m]Ali[/name_m], [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], [name_f]Ama[/name_f], [name_m]Ami[/name_m], Riri or Lexi-Marie

[name_f]Selena[/name_f] is a beautiful name, it’s on my own list as well, but I agree that [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] runs into it a little- so for all the reasons stated above I would go with [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] or [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]!

Good luck!

It sounds to me like [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f] is your preferred name, but you’re worried about the flow. Is that accurate? If so, I would certainly still choose [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f]. Flow is secondary to meaning in my opinion, and there’s nothing particularly objectionable about a name with less-than-ideal flow for any one other than a chronic name nerd (said affectionately, of course!).

Yes mostly concerned abt flow. What’s your opinion on the name & flow? What’s your preferred choice on my list in terms of name itself, sound, flow etc?

I like [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f], and it would be my preferred choice. Not a perfect flow, but it’s the most distinctive and (sounds like) the most meaningful of your choices.

As @VEL has commented I agree and would add….THE most important flow is that with her first and last name as that is how she will be known. Most people won’t even know her middle name and [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f] doesn’t grate at all so if it’s your favourite, I hope you use it!

Thank you :heartpulse:

[name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo! I don’t think the flow is a problem as most people will only know her by first-last name.

I’d go for [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f]! I don’t think the flow is that bad, and it sounds like in terms of first names (which matter more) you like [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] more than [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f]. The family connection and personal history you have with [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] is so sweet too!

Is [name_f]Marie[/name_f] still a common middle name? 40 years ago it was every other girl’s middle name but I hardly hear it now.

[name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] → it’s got a pleasing simplicity and clearness to it. It feels like [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] is an important, meaningful choice for you [name_f][/name_f]- which you also just like [name_f][/name_f]- which is a bonus. I think you have to weigh up how[name_f][/name_f] important passing on that name is [name_f][/name_f]- because if that idea is really appealing to you and your husband, [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] might be the one.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f] → they don’t run together so much that they feel unusable to me, but the flow isn’t quite as ‘clean’ or sleek as [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_f]Selena[/name_f] is a pretty name [name_f][/name_f]- stylish but solid [name_f][/name_f]- but I think [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is my preference. [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is cute – and it has nickname options too, like [name_f]Lexi[/name_f], [name_f]Issy[/name_f], [name_m]Lex[/name_m], [name_f]Lexa[/name_f], [name_f]Alma[/name_f], [name_m]Ami[/name_m], Lissy…

[name_f][/name_f]

Two compromises: [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Marina[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] [name_f]Melina[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is pretty too [name_f][/name_f]- it’s got international flair, a bright sound and feels like a nod to [name_m]Alex[/name_m] without being direct
