Help me love Hugo!

i really want to love Hugo, and i almost do. i used to view it as a pretty ugly-sounding name, but it’s been growing on me. @planetnames’s Hugo Rain really helped me like it more, but i still don’t 100% love it

why do you like Hugo? why should i love it?

Okay, first off, [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is literally your vibe.
He’s so dark academia, yet wearable on a small child. The little “o” sound at the end brightens him up, making the name so juxtaposed and upbeat. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is such a multicultural name, and is so wearable. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] isn’t tied to a specific role in life, and literally anyone could be a [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].

I have nothing else to say as to why you should love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], except, [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].

That’s a good question. Why should you love it? With five bazillion names out there, why is it important you make yourself love a name you don’t love. Not being rude, just genuinely curious.

i’m biased because Hugo is the name of one of my cats, but i think it’s quite a nice name! it has nice literary associations by way of Victor Hugo and Hugo Cabret, and i agree with Ellory that it has that “dark academia” vibe. it makes me think of black-and-white photographs, old libraries, and steam trains. also, it’s easily nicknameable! plus, if you put stock in meanings, “mind” and “spirit” are really versatile and can work in a lot of different combos.

I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. Hillariously I first heard the name in [name_f]Barbie[/name_f] [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f] :joy: the dragon. But I have ADORED it ever since. It wasn’t the character so much as the sound of the name on first hearing at like age 8 or whatever and that was it I fell in love. It’s been my favourite boys’ name ever since!

For me I agree it is academia and libraries and shiny wooden furniture. It’s the spirit of adventure, travelling the world, seeing the most beautiful places. It’s bedtime stories and horse riding and sword fights and romance and candles and campfires and fireworks all at the same time.

It’s sophisticated, it’s got the cool ‘o’ ending, it’s awesome on a child and an adult, it’s short and doesn’t need a nickname, it feels refined and playful, and it has a cool meaning ‘- mind, spirit’, which adds, in my opinion, to its intelligent feel.

I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], he’s so versatile. To me, he feels dark academia and cozy vintage at the same time, which I think is exactly your vibe. I can see him both on a cheeky, playful young boy and a grown, knowledgable and handsome man. He has that attractive ‘o’ ending and comes with the nn [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] / [name_m]Hughie[/name_m] if you need a nickname at all. He conjures up the image of a sweet messy-haired soul who loves his books, and nobody can argue about the fact that he’s incredibly handsome :relieved:

I myself have really been warming up to [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] recently. I think it has enough substance to work on an adult, yet the -o ending and its shortness makes it work on a child as well. It’s international and feels both modern and traditional, like you wouldn’t really associate it with one particular period. Overall, an amazing name.

I love the name [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. We are having our baby this week and we are planning to call the baby [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] if it’s a boy. I agree that the ‘o’ makes it sound cutesy on a child but the name is sophisticated enough otherwise for an adult.
